I was thinking… judgment says a lot more about the judge than the story.

After years of listening, learning, and really paying attention, I’ve noticed something: the people quickest to judge are often the ones who haven’t lived it yet. And life has a funny way of teaching those exact lessons.

We hear one side of a story and run with it like it’s fact. But are we really that gullible? The first version is usually polished, protective… and missing responsibility.

No two experiences—divorce, grief, parenting, healing—are ever the same. So why do we act like there’s a “right” way?

Maybe it’s time we stop trying to make people look bad to feel better.

It’s outdated. It’s learned. And honestly… it’s kind of gross.

Choose curiosity over criticism. Always.

Yeah. That’s your inner critic.

“She didn’t text back. You’re annoying.”

“You messed that up. Obviously you’re not cut out for this.”

“They looked at you weird. Must be you.”

Ma’am. Sir. Calm down.

It’s amazing how we fact-check strangers on the internet…
but fully believe the most ridiculous commentary happening inside our own head.

Plot twist: you weren’t born thinking you were “too much” or “not enough.”
You learned it. Layer by layer. Experience by experience.

And if you learned it?
You can unlearn it.

Negative self-talk isn’t insight — it’s rehearsal.

And whatever you rehearse, you strengthen.

You became this way because you learned it was safer to stay quiet.

You learned to read the room before speaking.

You learned to keep the peace, even when it cost you your own.

You learned that being “easy,” “helpful,” and “agreeable” kept you seen… or at least not rejected.

And now?

I turn on the TV and it feels like I’m watching the same person play every role.

Same lips. Same cheeks. Same frozen surprise expression. Same ‘I totally woke up like this’ vibe. And don’t get me started on the Ozempic era.

Which brings me to a genuine question—does no one like themselves anymore? Because if originality were currency, we’d be in a recession.

Breakups hit us in the center of our worth.

When someone leaves—especially with the reason of “you wouldn’t change” or “they wouldn’t change”—it’s easy to take it personally.

But pause for a second.

Think about how hard it is to change yourself… then really consider what it means to expect that from someone else.

We are not built the same.

We grow differently.

And real change only sticks when it comes from within, not because someone demanded it.

So if it ended, it wasn’t meant to be forced into shape.

Have the courage to walk away.

Let people who choose to leave… leave.

Love is not something you beg for, negotiate for, or shrink yourself to earn.

And their decision doesn’t get to rewrite your value.

You are enough. You are not the names you’ve been called.
