This is a photo of my spinal fracture and the degree of curvature that my spine was off. But this was NOT the biggest wound I sustained in combat. A friend of mine was killed in a firefight, right next to me. As hard as I tried to compartmentalize what happened, it was living in my body, as well as my mind. It made me lose interest in all the things that kept me feeling alive, healthy, and connected to myself and others.
When we experience trauma whether it’s emotional, physical, or even long-past... the body remembers. Stress hormones stay elevated, the nervous system can get stuck in “fight, flight, or freeze,” and over time this shows up as tension, fatigue, anxiety, or even physical pain.
Unhealed trauma can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, overwhelmed by emotions, and unable to fully relax or feel safe.
This is where Reiki can help.
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive healing practice that works with your body’s energy systems to release blocked or stagnant energy caused by trauma. As your body relaxes into a state of deep calm, the nervous system begins to shift out of survival mode, allowing healing on both emotional and physical levels.
People often report feeling lighter, more grounded, more present in their bodies, and more at peace.
If you’ve been carrying more than you can see or name, Reiki offers a safe space to let go, to heal, and to come home to yourself.
