🚨 Real talk time...
I grew up in a home where yelling, spanking, and shutting down were the norm. That’s just how discipline was handled. If you misbehaved, you got punished—no conversation, no explanations, just consequences.
Now as a parent, I found myself repeating those same patterns, even though deep down, I knew there had to be a better way. But breaking the cycle? That’s hard. It takes more than just deciding to parent differently; it takes unlearning, re-learning, and sitting with a whole lot of uncomfortable feelings.
Gentle parenting isn’t about being permissive or letting kids do whatever they want. It’s about guiding them, teaching them, and meeting their needs before behaviors escalate. It’s about teaching discipline instead of dishing out punishment. And yeah—it’s challenging, but it’s worth it.
If you’ve ever caught yourself reacting in a way that reminds you of how you were raised, you’re not alone. You can do this. You are doing this. And if you need support, I’m here.
