Proximal patellar tendinopathy and partial tearing is more commonly found in those engaging in jumping sports (basketball, volleyball). The MRI image shows the white signal located in the patellar tendon signifying tendon disease. Treatment options may include rest, PT, NSAIDs, PRP injection, or surgical debridement.

Scaphoid fractures can be sometimes hard to spot. Have a low threshold to either order an MRI acutely or bring patient back in 10 days to check if fracture line is present. The poor blood supply to this area makes it susceptible to non union and thus often requiring screw fixation.

Distal biceps tendon tears (pic 1) can happen after lifting a large weight or object. Usually one feels a tear with a popeye deformity present. Dr. Momaya repairs these with single incision technique using a button on the far cortex (pic 2).
