Priority Soldier Inc.

Comments

If you made it out to the Ruck 22 march yesterday hosted by Helena, Alabama Police Department and Priority Soldier Inc. you may have seen our VFW tent. While we love talking membership, we also want the local community to know about our presence and what we offer to veterans regardless of membership.

-Navigating the post-military world
-Acquiring medical and education benefits through the VA
-A community of individuals who have served in different conflicts from WWII to present day
-Emotional support
-Support for families of sick, injured, or fallen service members
-Networking opportunities

And possibly, most importantly, in honor of the 22 veterans a day (on average) we lose to su***de, we want to help. Please reach out to us if other resources just aren’t your thing. We are a group of men and women who want to end suffering in silence.

“Come all you weary with your heavy loads
Lay down your burdens find rest for your souls
Cause my yoke is easy and my burden is kind
I'll take yours upon me and you can take mine”
-Thrice
Didn't ruck but did take a lot of pics. Thank you to Helena, Alabama Police Department and Priority Soldier Inc. for putting on such a great event and continuing to help spread awareness around Veteran su***de. A video will be coming soon so stay tuned!
IT IS WITH EXTREME GREAT THANKS THAT I SEND THIS NOTE OF APPRECIATION TO PRIORITY SOLDIERS FOR HELPING ME GET MY POWER BACK ON (WHICH INCLUDES HEAT/AC , HOT WATER HEATER , AND CPAP BREATHING MACHINE ) AFTER SUFFERING RESTRICTIONS AND SELF QUARANTINING IMPOSITIONS FOR MONTHS FROM COVID-19 . I TRIED SEVERAL CHURCH , GOVERNMENT AND VA RELATED ORGANIZATIONS AND "TONS"OF PAPERWORK , BUT YOU WERE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAME THROUGH FOR ME ! SATURDAY WAS THE FIRST HOT SHOWER THAT I HAVE HAD SINCE OCTOBER !!!

Priority Soldier Inc. has served nearly 1,000 Veterans by offering assistance to veterans in need of fundamental services and utilities. We are a Birmingham based non-profit founded by LTC Kenneth Phillips that's dedicated to serving veterans.

Priority Soldier Inc. proudly celebrates Cinco de Mayo.

Americans actually do have a cause to celebrate and commemorate the Texan-born Mexican general, and his battalion of enlisted volunteer troops and their unlikely defeat over the French Army at the battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Despite being outnumbered 3-1, the Mexicans obliterated the French, forcing a retreat after the French sustained over 500 casualties, compared to the Mexican’s mere 100 deaths in the battle.

What many people might not know was that the French were planning a lot more than just a one-off takeover of the small Mexican city of Puebla. Along with this mounted offensive, Napoleon and his Army were planning to exchange their superior and advanced artillery with the American Confederate Army in exchange for southern cotton; a commodity that was growing quite sparse across the pond in Europe.

Had the French won the battle of Puebla and made that deal with the Confederates, our Civil War most-certainly would have turned out quite differently.

April is Stress Awareness Month: Tips to Help You Cope

Take care of yourself! Eat healthy, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, but most important, give yourself a break if you feel stressed. Discuss your problems with a parent, friend, or another trusted source, but recognize when you need more help – know when to talk to a psychologist, social worker, or counselor if things continue.

April is Stress Awareness Month. All April long, we'll be sharing ways to cope with our stress and finding healthy ways to deal with these situations. Simple changes every day can go a long way in living a healthy and positive life.

Today's question is: What does stress mean to you?
Everyone experiences stress – yet everyone may experience it in very different ways. Because of this, there is no single definition for stress, but the American Institute of Stress states the most common explanation is a “physical, mental, or emotional strain.” A 2017 study from the American Psychological Association found the most common sources of stress reported among Americans was money and work.

The first step in managing stress is to understand where these feelings are coming from. Keep a stress journal to identify the causes of short-term or frequent stress in your life. As you write down events, think about why this situation stresses you out.

Before the end of Women's History Month, we would like to honor 2 more women.

They were WASPs, or Women Airforce Service Pilots, and the only two Chinese-American women pilots during World War 2, Hazel Ying Lee and Maggie Gee.

"They never met, but their early lives ran a strikingly similar course. They were both Chinese-American women who thwarted layers of prejudice and preconception to become World War II pilots. One died young, while transporting a fighter plane. The other lived to 89 and went on to become a scientist."

Read More about the lives of Hazel and Maggie here:
