Who knew throwing my name in a hat for the 2020 SIG 1 Coordinating Committee nominations would lead to 5 years of service on the best ASHA SIG....SIGonederful :) Since the ASHA Board decided to sunset the SIGs, the meet-up this year was extra special for me at the convention. I have been able to be at the table with amazing colleagues making decisions on perspective topics, invited speakers, and community engagement activities. It has truly been an honor to serve on one of the top SIGs (I think we are the second largest).

I don't know what the future will hold for the new structure of the SIGs, but I am grateful I was a part of the amazing work that has come from SIG 1.

In the words of Viola Davis when asked why representation matters: "You need to see a physical manifestation of your dreams".
