🎵 “Everywhere you look, there’s a face of somebody who needs you.” 🎵

I’ll re-quote myself from a transparent conversation yesterday with these absolutely incredible women:

Postpartum — the very initiation into motherhood — was desolate for me. My healing came in having women;
To be for women. And to have women for me.

Both sides are wildly important for every mother—
being able to pour into others and being refilled (supported) by others.

For these mothers, and so many other lovely souls who were in their element of service today, I am so grateful.

I’m talking tears flowing level of grateful.
Not for myself only, but for this community of mothers and my clients to have each other.

The feeling of coming out of a desert into a wonderland.

That’s how having the right support feels.

Separating fact from fiction when it comes to cesareans! Let's debunk some common myths... 👇

🙅‍♀️"Once a cesarean, always a cesarean."
⭐70-80% of women who attempt to give birth vaginally after cesarean are successful. 90% would be successful if supported fully by birth team.

🙅‍♀️"My OB said it's safer to have another c-section than to try for a VBAC because my uterus could rupture."
⭐Uterine rupture occurs in 0.2% of VBAC moms and very rarely leads to death while repeat cesareans triples the risk of maternal death.

🙅‍♀️"C-sections lower my risks of complications because natural births are so unpredictable."
⭐Mothers are twice as likely to experience complications with cesarean birth compared to vaginal birth.

🙅‍♀️"My doctor needs to induce me so I don't pass my 40 week due date. I don't want a big baby!"
⭐Only about 5% of babies are born on their due date. The average pregnancy lasts 41 weeks and 1 day. Induction with your first baby more than doubles your risk of c-section.

🙅‍♀️"There's not much I can do to prevent a c-section. I'm just hoping for the best!"
⭐Many choices you make will affect your birth outcome, especially your choice of OB/midwife. Having a doula can lower your likelihood of c-section by up to 50%.
