The main facility contains clinical offices, an active research department and a full range of diagnostic equipment. The on-site diagnostic facility was one of Birmingham’s first to earn accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories for high-quality patient care and diagnostic testing. BHC also utilizes a Toshiba 64-slice CT scanner to provide top-quality computed tomography imaging, a non-invasive diagnostic method that reduces patients’ needs for invasive heart catheterization studies. Additionally, BHC has been recognized by the Spectranetics Corporation as a Center of Excellence for coronary and peripheral laser ablation therapy—only the second group in the U.S. to receive this honor.
