πŸ’™ Faces of Autism
"I have to push myself every day β€” but whatever I am blessed with, I try to do for others."
Meet Matthew Letson β€” a parts sales manager at AutoZone in Decatur, AL, a devoted son, a caring brother, and one of many inspiring members of our ASA community. πŸ’›

Matthew is on the autism spectrum and so is his sister. Together, alongside their disabled mom, the three of them are an unstoppable team. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ His sister holds a Bachelor of Science in Genetics with a minor in Chemistry and works as a quality technician. Matthew is currently 8 months into his transition from full disability to working full-time as a manager, and he is thriving. He recently received a raise and credits his store manager's encouragement and belief in him as a huge part of his success.

Matt doesn't stop at his own growth. He speaks daily with two individuals on the spectrum who are not currently working, lifting them up and reminding them to never give up on their dreams. πŸ“žβ€οΈ

He lives with severe social anxiety and depression and shows up anyway. Every single day. He gives to charities including St. Jude, Breakthrough T1D, and the Autism Support of Alabama. He tithes to his church, Beltline Church of Christ in Decatur. He is working through a debt forgiveness program, tackling a fear of driving, and saving toward independence, all while being a pillar for his family and his community.

"I remember why I work β€” to help my disabled mom and do what is best for my family. It's just the three of us. We support each other."

Matt, you are the definition of resilience, generosity, and grace. 🌟 Thank you for sharing your story and for being a light to everyone around you. Autism Support of Alabama is so proud to walk alongside you. πŸ’™πŸ§©

We are incredibly grateful to the Alabama Jeep Outfitters, the organizers and participants of the 1st Annual Jeepin for the Spectrum Poker Run for your outstanding support of Autism Support of Alabama!

Bringing together Jeepers, families, and communities from across the state, your events truly reflected the power of people uniting for a meaningful cause. From Jeep Night to the final Poker Run stop, every mile driven and every hand played helped make a difference.

Because of your efforts, nearly $1,500 was raised to support our mission! This is an investment that directly impacts individuals and families right here in Alabama. That kind of generosity and dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are so thankful.

We also extend our appreciation to all the sponsors, stop sponsors, and community partners who made this event possible, as well as everyone who showed up, participated, and stood together in support of autism awareness and acceptance.

It’s not just about the funds raised, it’s about the community you built and the message you shared. Thank you for riding with purpose and for making a lasting impact. πŸ’™
