My family history is not what most people think…
I’ve been told I come from the perfect family. From the outside looking in, it might seem that way.
The second picture shows a smiling mother and her son after a concert in 2017. What it doesn’t show was the pain deep within each of them.
That concert was one of the few social outings my mom had in an entire decade. She was suffering physically, mentally, and spiritually.
My mom planned to end her life. That plan was very real. I read the journal, her final prayers.
She was exhausted from the war with her depression. The enemy really convinced her that nobody cared and the world would be better without her.
I can’t count the number of late nights her and I spent talking, crying, begging, and praying for better days.
The light in my mom’s eyes is back for the first time in over a decade. I’m proud of her for fighting every single day.
Her story isn’t finished and neither is yours. God hears your prayers.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Check on your friends - struggle isn’t always obvious.
This story has never been easy to share, but hopefully it leads to courage for others. “In every story, there’s strength.”
