Thanks to Lindsay and Dr. Matt McCormick for excellent senior care for Emily! Sometimes, she thinks she is still this four-year-old!
Merry Christmas from Taco and Churro!
Thanks for taking care of us! Duke, Bella and Nikita.
Thank you again CAC staff and Dr. Melanie Mary Walters for a great annual exam this morning. You all are the best 🌟 Love, Sarah, Stevie, and Lily
Good Evening! I was wondering if you all carry the Vanguard crLyme canine vaccine?
To my CAC family, as I am about to graduate today, I wanted to send along my sincerest appreciation and love to taking me in and letting me work alongside such amazing people. Everyone I worked with from Kennel, Reception, Assistants, Techs, and Doctors taught me numerous valuable lessons I'll take with me as I start my career. I love you all and promise to stop by and visit when I'm back in town (good thing I married a local πŸ˜‰) ❀❀❀
George says "Thanks!" for the Vectra!
Our beautiful cat. Thanks Companion. (Had to be shaved last time but is growing out a little)
Check out Cleopatra.. she's my funny lil monkey!
My Gus-Gus is getting neutered today. Please send good thoughts our way for no complications. Luckily Gus-Gus has a wonderful veterinarian here.
Thank you one & all for your help... From all of us!

Puppy update! Echo had 7 healthy puppies, 5 male and 2 female!

Anyone up for a little game? Dr. Walters dog, Echo, recently had puppies! Here is her x-ray, can you guess how many puppies she had? Check back at the end of the week for the answer and a picture of the group!

Dr. Kadam had a beautiful visitor! Any other colorful pets out there?

This little darling scooted out in front of Dr. McCormick's car last month. Welcome to the family Luci, you picked a good family!

We received this wonderful story from one of our clients. We love hearing about your babies!

"Kayleigh has an ear infection in both ears and was prescribed drops. I give her the drops and Brogan comes right to me before I can get up for his drops too. So naturally I have to pretend to fix his ears too. These guys are so funny."

Help us celebrate "Hug a Cat" day by giving some love to your kitties! Bonus points if you comment with a picture 😍

Our staff is beyond thankful for the wonderful donuts given to us by our patients #Larkin and #Meg! Thank you Wendy, Larkin, and Meg for thinking of us!

Dr. McCormick, number 2! I'm here because "I have less exposure to the 'Rona here than at home."

For those of you that don't know, Dr. McCormick has been fostering an 8 week old puppy named Corona!

Veterinary assistant, Lindsay, is here because "all members of the family deserve medical care."

With all of the new puppies we have been seeing, we were thrilled to see this handsome little kitten! He's going to be big one day!

Rista, our resident "no poke" technician, is here because "I get scared at my doctor visits too!"

We will be closed today, May 25th in honor of Memorial Day! We will re-open Tuesday, May 26th at 7:30 a.m.

Receptionist, Amber, is here because "our pets need love and care too."

Dr. McCormick would like to remind everyone it's World Bee Day!! 🐝

Say hello to the clinics newest Pomskys! Kenya and Nairobi were all tuckered out after their first exam! 🐢🐢

We will be closed Monday, May 25th in honor of Memorial Day! Please take time to celebrate, honor, and remember those who have served our country!

Veterinary Assistant, Marissa, is here because "it's not just a job, it's a passion!"

Just look at this cutie! There will be no sneaking treat bags around her with those ears!

Receptionist and best advocate for your pets feet, Anona, is here because "as a farrier, nail trims ARE ESSENTIAL!"

We are grateful we still get to see your little ones, but we sure do miss loving all over them and getting kisses! We'll take what we can get for now πŸ’ž

In true Dr. McCormick fashion, he's here because "I need an excuse to wear my hair up."

(be on the look out, Dr. McCormick came up with a few different ones πŸ˜›)

Flossy had a great time at her first checkup! She wanted to follow Dr. McCormick (and the cheese) each time he left the room.

Vet assistant Jessica, knows just how important your pets are to you and how important their care is.

She's here because... "I have fur babies too".

During these strange times we still love to see your little ones! Say hello to Arlo!

We always want our patients and clients to know we are here for them everyday, even during COVID-19! Vet Assistant Elizabeth G. is here because..."Sick pets need our help!"

Everyone, We'd like to introduce our new patient, Gary! He had a great check up with Dr. Kadam and allowed some of the staff to see their first Tegu!

We will begin a new photo series of why we are here to support our patients and clients during COVID-19. Dr. Kadam is here because..."Reptiles deserve medical attention too"!

These cuties wanted to wish you a safe and happy Easter! What is your pets favorite part of the Easter celebrations?

Paco and Oliver are now all clean! Any puppies or kitties out there that enjoy the water?

Look at this perfect little guy! He came in for a new patient visit after finding his forever home, and weighed in at a whopping 8 grams. For reference, a nickel weighs approximately 5 grams. The staff is looking forward to watching him grow up!

[04/03/20]   As we are getting closer to the Easter season, a common household plant is the Easter Lily! Unfortunately they can be toxic to at least one of our furry friends! Cast your vote and come back on Friday to check your answer!

[03/26/20]   March 26, 2020

In response to the recent confirmation of COVID-19 in southwest Virginia, the limitations to identify potentially infected individuals, and after reviewing the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Companion Animal Clinic will implement the following to ensure the health and well-being of our patients, clients, and staff, while we remain open and operate as normal.

As of Friday, March 27th, 2020, we will no longer allow clients to enter the clinic. The entrance to our building will remain locked during office hours. Our doctors and staff are committed to the value of client communication as well as the safe and low stress handling of your pet. We will continue to deliver both of these even though we will not be face to face with you.

We will be offering limited contact appointments only. Limited-contact appointments offer the same care as a regular visit, without exposure to multiple people and public spaces. During these visits, clients stay in the safe environment of their own personal vehicles while we tend to your pet inside our building.

The limited contact appointment process is simple:

*Call us at 540-552-6800
*Tell us you wish to schedule an appointment
*When you arrive for your appointment, stay in your vehicle
and call us to tell us you have arrived.
*Our receptionist will transfer you to a veterinary assistant or
have a veterinary assistant call you and your appointment will
begin via phone.
*After obtaining an initial history on your pet, our veterinary
assistant will come to your car and escort your pet into the
clinic. Please keep in mind, our staff may be wearing
appropriate protective gear to minimize any exposure.
*After completing an exam, our doctors will speak to you via
phone regarding exam findings and treatment
recommendations for your pet. Please make sure you have
your cellular phone with you. Communication with the doctors
and staff will be by telephone or text.
Tips: 1. Make sure your phone is charged
2. We have several phone lines, one that appears
blocked. Please answer all calls.
*Once the appointment is complete, a receptionist will call you
to take payment over the phone and our veterinary assistant
will deliver your pet and any medication/food to you. We will
email you a receipt of your pet/s visit.

We will be offering Curbside Service Monday-Friday from 7:30 am - 8 pm and Saturday from 8 am - 3 pm. This service can be used to pick up/drop off boarding or hospitalized pets, medication or food refills, and for any routine, urgent care, or emergency appointments. Simply call our office at 540-552-6800 and a member of our staff will be happy to assist you.

Prescription Refills - If you need to refill a prescription, please call 24 hours in advance. We will contact you when your prescription is ready for pick up. When you arrive please call our office at 540-552-6800. Our receptionist will take payment over the phone or you may prepay and our staff will deliver your items to your car.

If you need prescription food, please call 1-2 weeks in advance to allow us time to order and receive your pet's food. You may visit our website companion-vets.com to enroll in Purina VetDirect to purchase your pet’s Purina prescription diets online and have them deliver it to your home for FREE!

We want to assure you our cleaning protocols and sanitation methods are extensive and reflect the guidelines provided by the CDC to reduce contamination. We have also instructed our staff that if they have any signs of respiratory distress, fever, or cough, to stay at home. We are asking the same of our clients during this difficult time. We are here to take care of your pet/s but we must also provide a safe environment for all clients and staff members.

We understand this is an unsettling time for many of us, but I hope we can bring comfort to you and your pets as we continue to provide the highest standard of veterinary care through this crisis. We truly appreciate your understanding and support. Together, we can get through anything. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 540-552-6800.
