🧩 Cannabis Research for Autism and Developmental Disorders🧩
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps keep balance in your brain and body. It affects mood, stress, inflammation, and how our cells talk to each other.
New research shows that in people with autism, the ECS doesn’t work quite right. This can lead to challenges with communication, behavior, and emotions. Scientists found:
🔹 Kids with autism often have lower levels of important ECS chemicals (like anandamide).
🔹 Helping the ECS work better may improve mood, memory, sleep, and social connection.
🔹 Cannabis-based products, especially those with CBD, have been shown to be safe, well-tolerated, and helpful for some autism symptoms.
🔹 A new study in 2024 showed that a full-spectrum CBD extract helped kids with moderate to severe autism feel better and improved family life too!
🌱 Nurse Coaching Tip for the day for both parents and their children:
1. Structure and Predictability:
Routines: Autistic children often thrive on routines, so establishing predictable schedules for daily activities like meals, bedtime, and playtime can reduce anxiety and promote a sense of security.
Visual Schedules: Use visual aids like visual schedules and social stories to help children understand routines and expectations, reducing stress and transitions.
Transitions: Prepare children for upcoming changes by using visuals or verbal cues to help them anticipate what's coming.
Support the ECS naturally with good sleep, healthy food, stress management, and outdoor play!
Always talk with a trusted healthcare provider before trying new supplements or cannabis products.
🧡 The goal is to find safe, supportive ways to help children and families live healthier, happier lives.
