🩺 Aorta Ultrasound Facts from JerBear Imaging

• The aorta is the largest artery in the body and carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
• An aorta ultrasound is a painless, noninvasive exam that uses sound waves to look at the abdominal aorta.
• ✔️This ultrasound is commonly used to screen for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), which is a weakening or bulging of the aorta.
• The exam does not use radiation and is considered very safe.
• Most aorta ultrasound exams take about 20–30 minutes to complete.
• Patients are asked not to eat for 8 hours before the exam to reduce bowel gas and improve images.
• 💙 Ultrasound can help detect aneurysms early before symptoms appear.
• Smoking, high blood pressure, and family history can increase the risk of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
• Doppler ultrasound can also evaluate blood flow through the aorta.
• Early detection through ultrasound may help prevent life-threatening complications.
