11 years ago if you had of told me I would be focusing on Autism I would have laughed in your face.
😂😂😂
Actually to be exact I would have said...
“Who me!!! 🤔.
Ain't no forking way! 😂🤣😂
You have the wrong Speech Language Pathologist! I need way more knowledge and experience.
It wasn't that I was clueless about Autism.
I studied it in college and graduate school (which reading about something and experiencing it first hand has some distinct nuances).
It’s just that I didn't have many autistic clients back then (or at least that I was aware of).
I graduated in May of 2010 but didn’t start practicing as a Speech therapist until January of 2011.
I came home fresh out of Columbia University thinking I would start right away but I took a pause to support my mom and dad.
I wasn’t aware of it at the time, but back then getting an autism diagnosis was starting to see some shifts.
Research and other important events began to take place in the study of Autism.
Looking back now, I realize I definitely had some kiddos that I was working with who were autistic but undiagnosed.
I just didn’t know it at the time but now I do.
This is the story of how I became an expert in understanding the how and the why behind getting a diagnosis of Autism.
=====================
I know I’ve been quiet…
I think I do just like ripping my clothes off instead of warming YALL up 😂.
If you don’t mind skipping the foreplay (the anticipation build up - to be more professional) I’m your girl.
=======================
Are you ready for what’s to come?
This was part one of the fun. 😉
Part two coming tomorrow night.
In the mean time here are the details.
