This milestone reflects their unwavering commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care every day. HCCI congratulates the Illinois long-term care providers recognized as 2025 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award recipients by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

This award marks the first step in AHCA/NCAL’s rigorous three-level National Quality Award Program and honors providers that demonstrate a strong commitment to quality improvement, person-centered care, and organizational excellence.

A total of 653 providers across 46 states earned the Bronze Award this year, including 29 from Illinois, representing both skilled nursing and assisted living communities. We are especially proud to see so many HCCI member facilities included in this distinguished group:

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ida! 🎉

We recently had the joy of celebrating a very special birthday for our beloved long-term resident, Ida!
Originally from Ecuador and one of nine siblings, Ida came to the United States many years ago to be closer to her sister Noemi and build a new life. Her journey has been one of love, service, and faith.
Ida is known by her family and friends as a selfless, caring soul who always put others first. A devoted Catholic, she made sure she prayed the Rosary every day. When she wasn't caring for her family or attending Mass, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and dancing.
We've had the privilege of caring for Ida since 2011, and it was truly an honor to celebrate this wonderful milestone with her family, friends, and our staff!

Our staff and residents had a blast at our Fourth of July celebration! 🔥
We enjoyed a sizzlin' BBQ, plenty of laughs, and great vibes with friends and family all around. It was a day full of fun, food, and patriotic spirit! 🇺🇸🎉

Eight Alden representatives, including our President Randi Schlossberg-Schullo, attended the first-ever Women’s Luncheon hosted by the Democratic Party of Illinois.

Special guests included Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton and Wisconsin Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, who shared their inspiring journeys into public service and insights on women in leadership.

We were proud to strengthen connections with elected leaders, including Party Chair Lisa Hernandez, a long-time Alden Champion whose district includes two Alden communities.

Meaningful conversations around healthcare, leadership, and policy made this a powerful and productive event!

Happy Juneteenth! Today, our team and residents came together to
honor the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans learned they were free. We celebrated by learning and reflecting on this important day in history as we continue to build a community of unity and respect. 🖤❤️💚

Alden Network leaders had a fantastic time attending the 9th Annual Forum on Post-Acute, Long-Term Care, and Assisted Living!

Our nurses and administrators enjoyed gaining valuable insights from incredible speakers like Bette Lawrence-Water, who spoke on civility in the workplace, and Lorena Amarillo, who shared important strategies around emergency preparedness. These sessions were not only informative — they were empowering.

In addition to earning CEUs, our team loved connecting with fellow professionals and exploring innovative solutions from the many vendors in attendance. Events like this help us grow, learn, and continue to deliver the highest standard of care across all Alden facilities.

The Alden Avengers were out in full force this past weekend at the 31st Annual Gibbons 5K Run & 3K Walk, proudly representing the Davidson-Brin Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation!

It was a beautiful day to come together, raise awareness, and support the fight against blood cancers. Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, donated, and cheered us on — your support means the world as we work toward a cure!

The entire week was dedicated to celebrating the phenomenal staff and residents who make Alden Valley Ridge feel like home. It was only fitting to end the celebration with a lively party and special recognition that honored the diverse cultural backgrounds of our Alden team and residents!

Skilled Nursing Care Week Spotlight 🌟
As we continue celebrating the people who make up the fabric of our community, today we’re excited to feature Elaine Reed.

Elaine’s career journey included light housekeeping and managing a switchboard — roles that reflect her hard work and dedication. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, watercolor painting, watching movies, and catching episodes of her favorite show, Blue Bloods.

One of Elaine’s most cherished memories is visiting her parents’ homeland, Greece. She’s fluent in Greek, attended Greek School, and has celebrated both Greek and American holidays throughout her life.

Since coming to Alden, Elaine was thrilled to meet another Greek resident and has found joy in connecting with others during holiday parties, trivia games, and Scrabble matches.

We’re so grateful to have Elaine as part of our community and to celebrate her story during National Skilled Nursing Care Week.

The Alden team had an incredible presence at this year’s 63rd Annual WHCA/WiCAL Spring Conference and Expo in Green Bay!

Not only did everyone look amazing in their Alden gear, but the camaraderie amongst everyone was spectacular. Our team got the chance to network with fellow long-term care professionals and attend educational sessions ranging in topics from Improving Post-Acute Transitional Care Management to Leadership Insights and Virtual Reality Dementia training. From a sizzling and soulful Hibachi dinner to going home with cash prizes, it’s safe to say the Alden team had an amazing time from start to finish!

Yesterday, we hosted our first annual Ride for Research event with CYCLEBAR, benefitting the Davidson-Brin chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation! Not only did the Alden team enjoy an invigorating 45-minute classic ride, but we were able to raise $1,450 for Leukemia research!

Thank you to our wonderful Alden family for all the donations, support, and participation. You truly made this event memorable! We'd also like to thank the CycleBar team, and our instructor, Danielle, for a fun ride!

Nothing beats breaking a sweat and pedaling for a purpose. Until next year! 🚴‍♀️
