We had a very “Stuck On You” kind of afternoon with Elvis in the building, and it was unforgettable!

Our amazing 102-year-old resident, Ruth Chandler, made a special request for Elvis at our birthday celebration, and of course, we delivered! He even gave her a scarf as a sweet memento!

Some of the highlights from the party included a duet of “My Way” by residents Margaret and Cerise, and our resident Larry rocking out on his air guitar!

Yesterday’s Summer Party was a blast! ☀️🍹
We soaked up the sun on our back patio with fancy drinks, delicious appetizers, and sweet treats. A playlist full of summer hits set the perfect vibe, and we had a great time playing water games. Some of our residents and staff even capped off the fun by drinking from the garden hose—just like old times!
The weather couldn’t have been better, and everyone had an amazing time!

Happy Birthday Ruth!

Please join us in wishing a very happy 102nd birthday to Ruth Chandler! Ruth celebrated her special day with a lovely visit and lunch, joined by her daughter Linda and two dear friends. 💐

When asked about the secret to her longevity and good health, Ruth shared her simple formula: green tea and regular exercise!

Last Friday, we packed up a picnic lunch and headed out to enjoy the third and final outdoor concert at our local library!

Our residents loved every minute of it — from the live music to dancing and soaking up the summer vibes. We’ve been to all three concerts this summer (June, July, and now August), which meant we qualified for the raffle drawing.
Big congratulations to our two lucky winners, Bill M. and Bob, who each took home a gift card to Anyway’s Restaurant!

Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make this summer series so much fun!

A Fun Day at the Schaumburg Boomers Game! ⚾🌞

Yesterday, we enjoyed a sunny (and hot!) day cheering on the Schaumburg Boomers. We were warmly welcomed by Bill, a Boomers employee, who kindly moved us from a sunny spot to a cooler, shady section!
Shoutout to Max at the concession stand for the great customer service and delicious ballpark hot dogs. 🍔🌭
Although the Boomers didn’t come out on top this time, our spirits were high, and we had a wonderful time together!

We can’t wait for the next game!

HCCI congratulates the Illinois long-term care providers recognized as 2025 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award recipients by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

This award marks the first step in AHCA/NCAL’s rigorous three-level National Quality Award Program and honors providers that demonstrate a strong commitment to quality improvement, person-centered care, and organizational excellence.

A total of 653 providers across 46 states earned the Bronze Award this year, including 29 from Illinois, representing both skilled nursing and assisted living communities. We are especially proud to see so many HCCI member facilities included in this distinguished group:

Our residents are typically down for any outing, but they have their favorites, and Texas Roadhouse is one of them! We took advantage of their "Early Dine" special, and our residents had a great time! Thank you to our server, Lily, who was so patient and kind. It's always a pleasant experience!

🎶 Picnic + Live Music = A Perfect Friday!
On Friday, we took our residents to the Bloomingdale Public Library
for a lovely outdoor picnic lunch, lovingly packed by our amazing dietary team, and a free concert under the sun. We were thrilled to catch one of our favorite bands, Horizon, live! Great music, good food, and even better company made for a wonderful afternoon. 💙☀️🎵

Our 4th of July celebration was full of energy! Family, friends, residents, and staff all came together for our annual Patriotic Picnic, featuring delicious food and live music by the Horizon band!
Residents enjoyed dancing, tasty bites, and special treats like cotton candy and snow cones!

Eight Alden representatives, including our President Randi Schlossberg-Schullo, attended the first-ever Women’s Luncheon hosted by the Democratic Party of Illinois.

Special guests included Illinois Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton and Wisconsin Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, who shared their inspiring journeys into public service and insights on women in leadership.

We were proud to strengthen connections with elected leaders, including Party Chair Lisa Hernandez, a long-time Alden Champion whose district includes two Alden communities.

Meaningful conversations around healthcare, leadership, and policy made this a powerful and productive event!

Last week, we had a blast celebrating our amazing CNAs during CNA Week! Staff got into the spirit by participating in Spirit Week, dressing up each day to match a fun daily theme—it brought lots of laughs and energy throughout the building!

To show our appreciation, we showered our CNAs with tokens of gratitude, delicious lunches, and sweet treats all week long. 💙

We wrapped up the celebration with our much-anticipated scavenger hunt, where participants solved riddles leading to their grand prize: a summer-themed bag and cooler packed with all the warm-weather essentials!

A huge thank you to our incredible CNAs for the dedication, compassion, and heart you bring every day!

We went ALL IN for Father’s Day! 🎉

Our distinguished gentlemen enjoyed a feast fit for kings—BBQ ribs, chicken, and all the fixings—thanks to our friends at Mugs & Manor!

They topped it off with cold beer and a few spirited rounds of Texas Hold’em. It was a day full of great food, fun, and even better company! ♠️

Alden Network leaders had a fantastic time attending the 9th Annual Forum on Post-Acute, Long-Term Care, and Assisted Living!

Our nurses and administrators enjoyed gaining valuable insights from incredible speakers like Bette Lawrence-Water, who spoke on civility in the workplace, and Lorena Amarillo, who shared important strategies around emergency preparedness. These sessions were not only informative — they were empowering.

In addition to earning CEUs, our team loved connecting with fellow professionals and exploring innovative solutions from the many vendors in attendance. Events like this help us grow, learn, and continue to deliver the highest standard of care across all Alden facilities.

The Alden Avengers were out in full force this past weekend at the 31st Annual Gibbons 5K Run & 3K Walk, proudly representing the Davidson-Brin Chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation!

It was a beautiful day to come together, raise awareness, and support the fight against blood cancers. Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, donated, and cheered us on — your support means the world as we work toward a cure!

The Alden team had an incredible presence at this year’s 63rd Annual WHCA/WiCAL Spring Conference and Expo in Green Bay!

Not only did everyone look amazing in their Alden gear, but the camaraderie amongst everyone was spectacular. Our team got the chance to network with fellow long-term care professionals and attend educational sessions ranging in topics from Improving Post-Acute Transitional Care Management to Leadership Insights and Virtual Reality Dementia training. From a sizzling and soulful Hibachi dinner to going home with cash prizes, it’s safe to say the Alden team had an amazing time from start to finish!

Yesterday, we hosted our first annual Ride for Research event with CYCLEBAR, benefitting the Davidson-Brin chapter of the Leukemia Research Foundation! Not only did the Alden team enjoy an invigorating 45-minute classic ride, but we were able to raise $1,450 for Leukemia research!

Thank you to our wonderful Alden family for all the donations, support, and participation. You truly made this event memorable! We'd also like to thank the CycleBar team, and our instructor, Danielle, for a fun ride!

Nothing beats breaking a sweat and pedaling for a purpose. Until next year! 🚴‍♀️
