Meet Emily Coleman, RN, BSN, CCRN, USAW, CF-L2, one of the incredible coaches at Variable Movement!

Emily brings 10 years of lifting experience and 5 years coaching group classes in Ellsworth to the Blue Hill Peninsula. Her kind, positive attitude and sharp eye for form make her the perfect coach for both new and experienced lifters.

When she’s not helping clients crush their strength goals, Emily works at EMMC, bringing the same care and dedication to her patients as she does in the gym.

Stop by and see Emily in action—she’s ready to help you lift smarter, stronger, and safer!

It starts as tightness.
A shoulder that feels “off.”
An Achilles that is stiff in the morning.
A knee you avoid fully loading.
These are early signals that tissue capacity is being exceeded.

You didn’t lose your talent.
You lost your conditioning.

Former athletes often get injured when they jump back into sports because:
🔹 They remember what they used to be able to do
🔹 Their competitive mindset overrides their current capacity
🔹 Strength, mobility, and tendon resilience decline faster than skill
🔹 Recovery takes longer than it did at 18

Muscle memory is real. But so is tissue deconditioning.

If you’re a former athlete getting back into it, train like the athlete you are now not the one you were.
Talk to us, and we will get you to the athlete you were before.

You might remember your old numbers:
🔹 225 on the bench.
🔹 Sub-6 mile pace.
🔹 Pickup basketball every weekend.
But your body only responds to what you’ve done recently, not your personal records.

After your early 30s, muscle mass declines if you’re not actively strength training. Joint stability changes. Recovery slows.

The good news? Your body also adapts to what you do consistently now.

Ready to start training for the body you want now?
