I am standing
Feet solid on this frozen earth
And watching the way
The new day emerges
With the warmth of a light
So strong
That the ICE in my fearful heart
Begins to soften
And my prayer infused breath
From these grief filled lungs
And vulnerable heart
Travels across time and space,
Miles and illusions of separation
And softens too, the ICE in other
Contracted hearts
And weaves its way
In the collective healing
Needed so desperately
In this time.
There is no separation
Between this prayer
And cries of fear.
There is no separation
Between this breath
And the crystallized breath
Of the voices singing and blowing whistles
In the streets.
There is no separation between
This love song
And the tender vulnerable hearts
Of those hiding, oppressed, detained.
And there is no separation
Between this aching exhale
And the hearts of the oppressors.
Because love weaves
And winds its way
With a force so strong, so powerful, so alive that it knows no bounds
Of time or space or sides.
Love heals.
And I’ll keep breathing love.
One breath at a time.
One song at a time.
One grief filled aching cry at a time.
One ICE melting new light of day
At a time.

Love you. Keep breathing. Keep loving. Keep moving in any action you are able. And do not underestimate the power of prayer, ritual, movement, action, and songs in these times. We need it all.
Every way
that every one
can show up
in all the ways
that we are able.
