In a world that is constantly selling us ways to improve upon ourselves, it can feel like a radical act to love ourselves as we are.
Don’t get me wrong, I have made it my life’s mission to “better” myself, understand my inner workings, and educate and provide others with tools, products and resources to do the same. But, there is a difference between accepting the pieces of yourself that make you unique and truly radiant, versus a desire to be someone you are not.
It has taken me years to love the person I am and continue to become, as see her, a reflection of my gifts, strengths, purpose, and experiences.
This time of year always has a way of bringing up these themes for me, and shedding light on where my trigger points still are – where I’ve grown, and what I’m still releasing.
The world we live in certainly can reflect that big change requires big movement. But as we near Spring and eclipse season, I’ve been thinking a lot about this notion and what propels us to move forward when we don’t have such momentum, validation or a team of cheerleaders coaching us on? When we are utterly alone with ourselves and inner voice?
While perhaps it is our human nature to thrive in communities, reflect ourselves in each other, I believe real change in ourselves, real fulfillment comes from doing it solely for you. Much like the phrase – dance like no one is watching; be so firm in your love for and trust in yourself that all of life’s blessings are simply the cherry on top.
I am certainly a student of this mindset, but have found some comfort and relief in the more I embrace that my quirks, multi-facedness, sensitivities, and unique experiences make me, well me, and honor the life I’m meant to be living. Here’s to living fully, proudly, openly, as your radical, radiant you.
Don’t tread lightly in your life.
