✨Ugh, mom, will we ever get this???

I tell patients ALL👏🏻THE👏🏻TIME 👏🏻 that just because you have breasts, doesn’t mean you should know how to breastfeed.

And…

Just because that sweet baby has an instinct to suckle doesn’t mean he or she knows how to breastfeed either!

Your job is NOT to know how to breastfeed your baby.

Your job IS to LOVE 💕 your baby, and in the midst of a lot of love and patience breastfeeding happens….

Give yourself grace, patience, and time to learn alongside your new bundle of joy WITHOUT all the pressure and guilt.

You got this momma! 🤱

Well hello there! ❤️

My name is Christy Stockton, and I am a Certified Lactation Specialist. I am the mother of 3 beautiful boys who gave me a WIDE range of breastfeeding experience! I’ve personally dealt with success, failure, hardship, defeat, triumph, etc… the list of things goes on and on! I’m also a Mother/baby nurse who has been working with breastfeeding families since 2012!

I truly desire to normalize ALL things breastfeeding/nursing related and give mothers the tools and confidence to feel successful no matter what their journey looks like!

All Mothers and babies are unique… 👇🏻

In my consultations this past week I met with an amazing duo.

This mother baby combo had all the things… the fanciest of nursing pillows ( it was seriously so nice! ), a top of the line ni**le shield, creams galore…. The point is, you name it, she had it!

This momma was committed and PREPARED!

Or so she thought…..

One thing babies are good at is showing us how little of all that fancy they actually need. With this case, we had too much going on for momma and baby to connect. Infants need the touch of their mother’s skin to feel at home, and that glorious nursing pillow was preventing just that.

We removed the pillow brought baby and mother skin to skin. THAT was our first win!! Secondly, we had a ni**le shield in place that wasn’t necessary. ( Happens ALL THE TIME) Mom and I worked together to learn proper latching and it worked! She was amazing!! It’s a magical moment when you see mother and baby GET IT!

Her shoulders fell from tension she’d been harboring, her brow lost its furrow, and pure joy swept across her face…

Y’all, it gives me all the feels every single time!

It’s the small things you guys….the connection, the love, the patience with yourself and your baby.

Moral of the story: You don’t need all the fancy to be a successful breastfeeder.

Just another log???

I hope NOT!

This daily log is a special part of my FREE resource packet. You may ask why I love THIS log so much, and here is my answer….

Does this log perfectly document babies feds and diapers to help reassure parents and pediatricians that baby is doing well, yes, yes it does.

BUT do you know what else it does without you even realizing?

It helps to prevent postpartum depression! 🤯

How does it do that?

This log has a section that a new mom is able to just simply circle a number indicating her mood for the day, which is a wonderful nonverbal way of letting your partner know how your doing without saying a WORD!

It also has a space for goals and reflections.

Setting goals for each day is HUGE in improving mental wellbeing, whether we meet those goals or not.

The reflections area is a safe space to write what went well and what did not. Such an easy way for partners to stay in tune with not only needs of the infant but of the mother as well.

Lastly, the activity section…. Ah, the activity section……

This seems trivial to most I would assume, BUT! Hear me out!

🙋‍♀️ Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt a slight bit of resentment towards your partner for not doing a task and you feeling like you are the ONLY one doing ALL. 👏🏻 THE. 👏🏻 THINGS. 👏🏻

In this space, it’s as easy as a ✔️ to yet again nonverbally communicate the baby’s needs for the day and keep not only moms mental status moving the right direction, but also keeping our parental relationship strong 💪!
