So many times we are our worst critics! I’m guilty of this myself. If I don’t take pictures I sometimes wonder if my work is actually working. These pictures show that it is!!

☀️Let’s talk aging and why it’s so important to protect our skin while we are in the process.

A few weeks ago I had a procedure done where I removed all my skin tags and some “age spots” by my dermatologist. There are several reason one gets skin tags but my particular case was due to a few. One being aging another, sun exposure. For years I’ve loved that sun kissed glow that worshiping the sun gives. But here’s the thing, I noticed in the last few years each time I lay in the sun for long periods of time I would end up with dark spots everywhere. I got to a point with my neck and chest that I was actually embarrassed to show them. So I had something done about it.

Going forward I will be protecting those areas as well as others more than ever! I urge my aging ladies out there to do the same. I have officially entered the age of big hats and 50+ spf. I didn’t mention all the concerns for cancer here but there’s that too. For me I’m happy to have my neck and chest looking normal again and plan to keep it that way.

I am not saying being out in the sun is a bad thing, in fact it’s actually good for you to a certain degree. I am saying that sitting in the sun and letting yourself cook for the sake of having dark skin can become problematic. Especially while we age.

The magic of Microneedling and Growth Factor🪄

Let’s address Purging-

While microneedling can irritate the skin and potentially lead to breakouts, it is not a direct cause of acne. The procedure is more of a catalyst that may bring underlying issues to the skin’s surface.

With this particular client she already has persistent acne and enlarged pores she deals with. Although her skin was well managed and prepared for the procedure we both knew that her normal process may include purging. As her skincare professional I have guided her along the way by assuring her that it’s a process and ultimately not a bad thing. This is perfectly normal and should be expected for those who struggle with acne and even those who do not in some cases.
