Impressive presentation by Ryan Soave on childhood and intergenerational trauma. He covered it all; theoretical, scientific, clinical and historic foundations. He did it in 2 hours and kept it interesting the whole time. Not everyone can do that.

Sunday was national overdose awareness day. For surviving loved ones, it was a brutal reminder of the unique wilderness of horrors that comes with this kind of loss. These people's experience of grief is often complicated by the stigma that comes along with addiction.

The nature of this disenfranchised grief often denies people of the natural support extended to grieving individuals whose loved ones died of other causes. Let's take a moment to consider that people like this are often inclined to withdraw from friends, family and the community because of stigma. If you have a friend or family member who has lost someone to overdose, this day of remembrance may serve as a reminder to reach out to those folks and offer support. It never goes unappreciated
