My End of July Special is here.
😊
Get an Amma session for $85 (a savings of $15).
Use them for yourself or gift them to a friend. Use them in person or for online consultations. Use them now, use them later. Perfect for those who have never tried Amma, young adults who are establishing their own healthcare teams, or those who are visiting.
Amma therapy is a classical Asian bodywork of Korean lineage. Literally translated as 'push-pull' - Amma is the oldest known Chinese word to describe bodywork or massage. Highly specialized, it combines deep rhythmic, circular digital pressure and acupressure point stimulation with Chinese medical principles for assessing and treating imbalances in the energy system.
Like acupuncture and other Asian bodywork forms, Amma focuses on the balance and movement of Qi (energy) within the body. Whereas the acupuncturist inserts needles into the energy pathways to stimulate and move the energy, the Amma practitioner relies primarily on the sensitivity and strength of the hands to manipulate the client's Qi. Amma therapy is highly adaptable to the client's needs.
What is Amma used for?
☯Mental and emotional balancing. From helping you unlock your jaw to moving aggressive energy (yes, it's a real Chinese medicine term) to comforting Shen (spirit).
☯Preventative and maintenance health. Focus is on understanding the client's constitution and propensities and keeping them strong and vibrant, whether that is working with your constitution.
☯Chronic patterns such as Bi or POS (painful obstruction syndromes) such as arthritis, post viral syndrome, fibromyalgia, weak digestive system to common life phase shifts, such as menopause and aging.
☯Acute patterns -- Amma is wonderful at treating acute patterns whether that is a headache from a car accident, a sinus infection or an exterior pathogen attack such as viruses.

“I have a body, but I am not my body.
I can see and feel my body, and what can be seen and felt is not the true Seer. My body may be tired or excited, sick or healthy, heavy or light, but that has nothing to do with my inward I. I have a body, but I am not my body. I have desires, but I am not my desires. I can know my desires, and what can be known is not the true Knower. Desires come and go, floating through my awareness, but they do not affect my inward I. I have desires but I am not desires. I have emotions, but I am not my emotions. I can feel and sense my emotions, and what can be felt and sensed is not the true Feeler. Emotions pass through me, but they do not affect my inward I. I have emotions but I am not emotions. I have thoughts, but I am not my thoughts. I can know and intuit my thoughts, and what can be known is not the true Knower. Thoughts come to me and thoughts leave me, but they do not affect my inward I. I have thoughts but I am not my thoughts.”

Full of color and flavor, I start making this soup in July as soon as fresh corn and butternut squash are available. It’s delightful on the cool late summer and autumn days, especially with a nice hunk of pumpernickel bread. Add in cooked beans or lentils for a full protein profile and a filling meal. If you want a richer soup, use organic beef broth instead of chicken. This soup has some spice to it, so if your digestion is sensitive, consider reducing the peppers in this recipe.

A note on corn. I love corn, even though it’s been horribly mismanaged and vilified. Corn is good for the heart and nourishes yin. Be sure and choose organic and sustainably grown corn.

1 large yellow onion diced
1 medium green pepper seeded and diced
1 medium red pepper seeded and diced
1 medium orange bell pepper seeded and diced
1 medium butternut squash (or other hard winter squash) peeled, seeded and diced
1 quart chicken stock
2 cups fresh corn if using frozen, thaw first
2 Tbsp. olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
1 can beans, rinsed and drained (optional)

Instructions
In large pot, heat olive oil. Saute’ onions and peppers until just tender. Pour broth over vegetables. Add to soup with corn and squash.. Season to taste. Cook until squash is soft, about 45 minutes. Serve with corn bread.

Energetics & Healing Actions
This soup is wonderful at nourishing the Late Summer organs of Stomach and Spleen. The squash is warming and drains dampness and phlegm. The peppers add pungency to move stasis and further drain phlegm. The corn nourishes the Heart.

Heart Protector 8 — Lao Gong, Palace of Weariness, or Pericardium 8 is a powerful transmission point that helps us connect to others.
❤️
We touch Lao Gongs when we shake or hold hands. It is an important point for Amma therapy practitioners, it helps us connect to our clients.
❤️
If you are new to Amma therapy, the form of bodywork I teach and practice, it is a hands-on form of Chinese medicine, one of the 3 broad categories of Chinese medicine
-- bodywork forms, Herbs/Nutrition, and Acupuncture. If you are a student or alumni of mine, you will recall the numerous times I helped place your hands in alignment with the channel and made sure you were connecting through Lao Gong to the client’s body and along channels.
❤️
Located where the tip of the 3rd finger meets the palm when you make a soft fist. The point lies on the radial edge of the 3rd metacarpal bone. Direct your pressure slightly towards the radial edge of the 3rd metacarpalphalangeal joint. Take a few deep breaths and massage the area for 30 seconds. Ahhhh…sigh…
❤️
PC 8 is the Spring, Fire, Horary and Ghost point on the channel.
❤️
A few functions and virtues -
Clears heat and cools the blood — high fevers, anxiety, agitation, palpitations, 5 palm sweat, tidal fevers, fullness in the hypochondria, halitosis, thirst, gingivitis, infections, Summer heat. Use this point if you feel like a fire is raging through you, which can make the blood reckless and cause bleeding.
❤️
Quells the urgency of unfulfilled or repressed Heart's desires or helps reignite Heart fire if lost.
❤️
Regulates the Heart Qi, transforms Heart phlegm, clears Heart Fire — Use for arrhythmia and palpitations, high fevers from any source that have caused agitation, anxiety, ADD, and ADHD.
❤️
Calms the Shen and revives consciousness — Shock, anxiety, grief, fright, mania, Dream disturbed sleep. Wind-stroke, heat stroke, slurred speech.
