Dr. Jon Schott and his wife Dawn started taking a medical team to Honduras in 2001. The team started small; with one physician, a few nurses, a pharmacist, and a few support volunteers. Since then, it has continued to grow in members. In March of 2013 David & Stephanie Bishop, along with Shannon Vaughn (NP) started the Treasure Valley Medical Team. They had accompanied the Baker City Medical Team
on past trips and wanted to do more to help the people of Honduras and to provide continuity clinics to the same schools and churches that are served by the Baker Team in January each year. For several years our teams partnered with True Disciples out of Kennewick, Washington. We appreciate all of the support they provided for us over the years. In August of 2015 we formed our own 501(3)c nonprofit called "Faith and Humanity Medical Missions". We are very excited about what the future holds as our teams continue to provide medical, dental, vision, and other humanitarian relief efforts to the people of Honduras and Central America. Currently, Medical mission teams from both the Treasure Valley and Baker City travel to Honduras each year to volunteer their time and talents by providing primary care clinics, dental clinics, and other volunteer efforts. The teams travel to under-served cities and villages throughout the country to provide medical, dental, and vision care that is otherwise not available to many people who live in poverty. Members of our Board of Directors include Nolan Hoffer, David Bishop, Dr. Jon Schott, Dawn Schott, Chris Folkman, John Kozlowski, Stephanie Bishop, Diana Thatcher, Cynthia York, Tyler Kuenzli, Michelle Guth, Michelle Dahlmeir, and Dr. Jose Bolanos. Our in country advisory committee consists of Dr. Jose Kury, Dr. Edgar Sanabria, Jorge Encalada, and Jahleel Amador. We hope to continue to grow our teams and build a permanent clinic with dormitories for our medical teams in rural Santa Barbara, Honduras. The need for healthcare throughout Honduras is great!
