Our Story
Dr. Jon Schott and his wife Dawn started taking a medical team to Honduras in 2001. They have led teams to Honduras each year since. The team started small; with one physician, a few nurses, a pharmacist, and a few support volunteers. Since then, it has continued to grow in members. In March of 2013 David & Stephanie Bishop, along with Shannon Vaughn (NP) started the Treasure Valley Medical Team. They had accompanied the Baker City Medical Team on pas trips and wanted to do more to help the people of Honduras and to provide continuity clinics to the same schools and churches that are served by the Baker Team in January each year. For several years our teams partnered with True Disciples out of Kennewick, Washington. We appreciate all of the support they provided for us over they years. In August of 2015 we formed out own 501(3)c nonprofit called "Faith and Humanity Medical Missions". We are very excited about what the future will holds as our teams continue to provide medical, dental, vision, and other humanitarian relief efforts to the people of Honduras and Central America.
Currently, Medical mission teams from both the Treasure Valley (March & June) and Baker City (January) travel to Honduras each year to volunteer their time and talents by providing primary care clinics, dental clinics, and other volunteer efforts. The teams travel to under-served cities and villages throughout the country to provide medical, dental, and vision care that is otherwise not available to many people who live in poverty.
We are excited to have formed a Board to lead our efforts. Members include David Bishop, Dr. Jon Schott, Dawn Schott, Shannon Vaughn - NP, Dr. Sean Benson, Mike Rudi, Chris Folkman, Nolan Hoffer, Anita Gianotto, Dr. Stefanie Fry, and Sharon Chow. We hope to continue to grow our teams and our efforts as we proceed into the future
