Are you p**ping all wrong?

https://www.npr.org/2026/04/13/nx-s1-5770397/p**p-wrong-bathroom-fiber

If you’ve ever been to an acupuncturist, you may know we ask All. 👏🏼 The. 👏🏼 Things. 👏🏼 about your p**p! Because Chinese medicine is over 3,000 years old, it developed before the modern diagnostic test that we have today. Medical practitioners learn diagnostic information about what’s happening inside the body from the things we can observe. That’s why we’re obsessed about your p**p.

Gastroenterologist Trisha Pasricha is interviewed in this episode
of Short Wave by NPR and the entire episode is about p**ping! Give it a listen. You might learn something you didn’t know. Like for instance, 40% of Americans who were polled said that their bowel movement habits disrupted their lives.

Even if you are as regular as Old Faithful, acupuncturists still want to know about your p**p, because again, it tells us about what’s going on with your body.

Talking about p**p can be taboo, and this social norm may be hurting our health. Dr. Trisha Pasricha says around 40% of people in the U.S. have bathroom issues so bad it affects their daily lives. Pasricha, a gastroenterologist, says her patients' bathroom and bowel education ends during potty train...

I’m asked all the time how Dry Needling is different from acupuncture. Or, when I am meeting someone new to me and I am talking about what I do for a living, the person will often say they haven’t had acupuncture before but their physical therapist has done Dry Needling.

What many people don’t realize is that the therapy now called Dry Needling has been a part of acupuncture therapy since the 600’s ADE. It is one of the many techniques acupuncturists have used for centuries!

Here is a terrific article that explains this subject.

Dry needling is not a distinct therapy. It is trigger point acupuncture — a technique with over 2,000 years of documented history — rebranded so that non-acupuncturists could practice it with a fraction of the required training.

Announcing some exciting news and additions!!!!

Fl•oh Acupuncture & Natural Medicine will have a new home…

Beginning in May 2026, Fl•oh will be its new location at 233 W. State Street in downtown Eagle.

Additionally, Donna will be expanding her practice from Women’s Health to incorporate natural esthetics and skincare. Systemic, whole body acupuncture treatments can be added to these services to address skin health at deeper levels, and to promote overall health and beautiful aging naturally.

Along with esthetic skincare, treatments to address alopecia, (hair loss) and dermatological conditions will be available.

More details to come, but services will include collagen induction therapy, microneedling and nanoneedling, and acupuncture “face lift” treatments.

And introducing Belladonna Custom Skincare products: Clinical grade serums that blend traditional Chinese herbal medicines with modern, cutting edge and scientifically supported ingredients.

These serums differ from what is available from health and beauty products on the market because they will be tailored to your specific needs, created on demand and in house. These serums can be appropriately modified for home use in between your treatments.

Donna will continue to be available for acupuncture treatments in your home. (Esthetic treatments will only be available in clinic.)

Stay tuned for more details! And,
as always, please contact Donna if you have any questions.

I have a big ASK of my Boise community:

It is time.

Boise needs a holistic medical clinic that is accessible and affordable.

I will be resurrecting a community type clinic to address the health needs of my peers. A place where patients can receive compassionate, high quality care without breaking their wallets.

(In case you’re unaware, I owned and operated The People’s Clinic in Boise for 10 years. The People’s Clinic was an acupuncture and natural medicine clinic where we charged on a sliding scale for acupuncture treatments, herbal and nutriceutical medicine and health coaching. Payments were done on the honor system and we did not verify income. We operated without grants and without handouts, and we did not require any sort of financial verification from patients. The average patient paid $40 for an acupuncture treatment; the market rates at the time for acupuncture were $75-250 per treatment.)

I’m searching for a clinic space for this endeavor. I have been looking through mainstream channels, talking to rental agencies and brokers, and it’s entirely possible I will find the right space this way.

But i got to thinking, I’ve been in the Treasure Valley since 1991 and I first started doing acupuncture and natural healthcare here in 2008. I know a lot of people; people who are generous and kind and people who know a lot of other people. I’ve treated literally hundreds of you. So I’m reaching out to you all.

If you know of someone who has an affordable space for lease that’s approximately 400-600 ft.² or larger, that is kind and compassionate and ethical, and that believes in the community that Boise is, would you put me in touch with them? Maybe you don’t know this person firsthand, but maybe you know someone who knows someone. This is how we found the space for The People’s Clinic in 2008. It was a beautiful 10 years of community and health and a type of fellowship. Along with the support of some other wonderful people, I built something beautiful and I want to do that again.

So keep your eyes peeled. I need a space located somewhere from downtown Boise west to the edge of Meridian, north of the freeway. The ideal space would have a small reception area and one large room.

If you don’t know, community acupuncture relies on a business model of low overhead, and I need a landlord full of human compassion and that understands what I’m trying to do. An affordable lease allows me to create a clinic where patients can afford to receive the care that they need without using their insurance and without taking out a second mortgage on their home. Therefore, I’m looking for someplace that isn’t terribly expensive. I don’t need anything fancy or shiny; just safe and with a landlord who is ethical and kind.

You know me guys. I’m sure a lot of you can vouch for how responsible I am and how passionate and dedicated I am to what I do. I know I can do a lot to help people who are suffering. The only piece that’s missing is finding an appropriate space at the right price so that I can charge very low rates.

Here is something you can share :

Hello!

My name is Donna Selle. I am a nationally board-certified and Idaho-licensed acupuncturist practicing in Boise since 2008. I’m reaching out to explore the possibility of leasing space to offer a low-cost, community-style natural healthcare clinic about three days per week. I will primarily provide acupuncture treatments in this space.

A little about me and my background:
For ten years, I owned The People’s Clinic in Boise, providing acupuncture and natural medicine on a patient-determined sliding scale fee schedule. I strive to remove as many barriers to care as possible, and my work centers on creating spaces where people feel safe, welcomed, and respected. I believe deeply that high-quality healthcare should be accessible to people of all incomes, faiths, backgrounds, genders, and identities. When care is priced out of reach, many simply go without — and that runs counter to my values.

Community acupuncture is the model that allows me to live those values. I treat 4–6 fully clothed patients at a time in a shared, peaceful room, offering treatments on a $30–60 sliding scale. Patients pay what they can, anonymously and on the honor system. Keeping overhead low makes it possible to provide consistent, dignified care in a truly community-centered way.

In addition to my private practice, I have served as an acupuncturist at allopathic medical clinics, physical therapy practices and The Cancer Institute at St. Luke’s. I continue to receive referrals from St. Luke’s as well as hospice organizations and medical providers across the valley.

This practice requires a room large enough for six chairs; 400-500 square feet is ideal, and a larger space is fine. I need a space available for approximately five hours, three times per week, and I am flexible on the schedule. If it is a mixed use space, I am able to use zero-gravity type chairs that fold and can be set up and taken down easily. It would also be wonderful if there were room for these chairs to be stored along with blankets and a small amount of supplies in between sessions. I’ve been in practice for 20 years, I carry my own liability and malpractice insurance and am licensed in Idaho and nationally certified through the NCCAOM.

If this feels aligned, I would genuinely welcome a conversation. Email is wonderful, or you may call or text me at (208) 918-6724. My website (in progress) is www.fl-oh.com.

Thank you so much. I truly look forward to connecting and I’m deeply grateful for your consideration.

Warm regards,
Donna Selle

Taiwanese researchers discovered acupuncture triggering stem cell release healing damaged organs naturally. Scientists at China Medical University found that electroacupuncture at specific meridian points stimulates bone marrow to release mesenchymal stem cells into circulation, which then migrate to injured organs and promote tissue repair. This mechanism explains acupuncture's therapeutic effects through measurable biological processes rather than placebo.

Traditional Chinese medicine has used acupuncture for thousands of years, but Western medicine dismissed it as placebo due to lack of biological mechanism. Taiwanese researchers using advanced imaging and cellular tracking discovered that needle stimulation at specific points triggers measurable stem cell mobilization—providing the first clear biological explanation for acupuncture's effects.

Electroacupuncture (needles with mild electrical current) at ST36 (Zusanli point) and GV20 (Baihui point) causes a 300% increase in circulating stem cells within 24 hours. These mobilized stem cells express homing signals drawing them to damaged tissues—injured liver, heart, kidneys, or brain—where they differentiate into organ-specific cells and release healing factors. It's like acupuncture triggers the body's internal repair dispatch system.

Stroke patients receiving electroacupuncture within 48 hours of stroke showed 40% better functional recovery than those receiving standard care alone. Liver cirrhosis patients showed reduced fibrosis markers. Heart attack survivors demonstrated improved cardiac function. The mechanism is entirely biological—traced stem cells from bone marrow to damaged organs. Skeptical Western physicians are reconsidering acupuncture given this mechanistic evidence. We're discovering that ancient healing practices work through sophisticated biological mechanisms science is only now capable of detecting.

Please, always refer to your Obstetrician or Midwife for questions about what is safe in pregnancy.

While acupuncture is FANTASTIC in treating pain of all kinds with no negative impact during pregnancy, sometimes a pregnant person needs something else, something more. So, again, rely on your provider who knows you and your particular situation for sound, evidence based medical advice regardless of whether it’s during pregnancy or any other time of life.
