Although small, this chronic wound has been present since May. The patient continued to have drainage from the wound, and the scab would repeatedly fall off and return. Even minor wounds that fail to heal can pose a significant risk for infection and tissue breakdown. Medicare Part B patients may qualify for advanced wound care treatments to help chronic wounds like this finally close and heal.
