The ATF eForms website is struggling under its own weight. After the $200 NFA tax stamp was officially reduced to $0, the ATF brought eForms back online following a planned maintenance window. Once it reopened, the system was immediately hit with an unprecedented flood of submissions from across the country thru single ATF portal. We’re talking tens of thousands of Form 1s and Form 4s being filed in a very short period of time — far beyond what the aging system was ever designed to handle.
So yes, the site is technically live, but it’s experiencing slow load times, failed submissions, crashes, and intermittent outages. This isn’t a shutdown or a rollback — it’s a government system buckling under massive demand now that Americans are exercising a right without a $200 paywall attached. If you’re trying to file, off-peak hours seem to work best, and patience is unfortunately part of the process while they scramble to keep the servers standing.
We will keep you posted as we keep trying.
