Some things your therapist (including me!) wants you to know...

I would also like to add to the list:

---> You are not bothering me when you ask questions! I would rather you ask me 1,000 questions and understand what is going on than sit there confused and uncomfortable.

---> Your phone call, text, or e-mail after hours is not annoying. I have scheduled times that I will answer, but you are able to contact me 24/7. If it is an emergency, I encourage you to call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

---> You do not need to apologize to me when you cry.

---> I will not and cannot tell you what to do. Depending on your needs, there may be recommendation and specific interventions I use, but those are not obligations. This is your journey and my job is to help you get through it and offer tools to use NOT tell you what to do.

---> I miss seeing you all in the office, but am SO HAPPY you continue to stay safe and healthy!

I’m excited to announce my new blog! I hope to cover information on sexual assault and other forms of trauma. Here is my first article on why it’s so hard for folx to label sexual assault for what it is. Let me know your thoughts - thanks! https://counselinginboston.com/blog/

Blog | Counseling in Boston LLC Please note: this article contains frank language about sexual assault which may be triggering to some readers. In my therapy office one of the most common questions I get asked directly or subtly is if I consider a client’s experience of sexual assault as sexual assault. The bolder clients will a...
