From the MGH Hotline (July 12, 2013) regarding RFDASH 2013: “RFDASH is a great opportunity for pediatricians in training to learn how to advocate for important children’s issues,” says James Perrin, MD, FAAP, former director of the MGHfC Division of General Pediatrics and president of the American Academy of Pediatrics. “The energy and clinical experiences that medical students and residents bring to the legislature tremendously help enhance legislators’ understanding of child health issues.”

Hello,

We are so excited for this year’s PEDIATRIC RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS DAY AT THE STATE HOUSE (RFDASH)! The event takes place this Thursday, June 20th at 8:30 am at the Massachusetts State House in the Great Hall.

By now Massachusetts pediatric residents should have received a paperless post invitation for this event. If for any reason someone did not get invite or did not RSVP, they can RSVP to me (rsagor@partners.org).

This year, we will be focusing our efforts on two legislative topics that address the needs of our pediatric patients in diverse ways: 1) Establishing universal vaccination and an immunization registry and 2) Creating safer gun policies in Massachusetts.

Dr. James Perrin, President-Elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics is our keynote speaker this year. Dr. Robert Sege and Dr. Richard Moriarty will be discussing the firearm legislation and immunization legislation, respectively. Dr. Anna Rosenquist will be discussing pediatricians as advocates and there many other great speakers! Please see the event schedule below.

We look forward to seeing many of you!

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Rachel Sagor, MD
Lily Maltz, MD
Sylvia Romm, MD MPH
