Hi, everyone. Just checking in with a quick update on Kylie. Nothing significant to report. She has had some minor complications and various hospital stays, but nothing too “unexpected” considering.

Also, to date, she is still not experiencing ANY rejection of the new organs, which is amazing!! 🙌

Little by little we’re getting there. The most frustrating part is her weak immune system. Unfortunately she has not been able to return to Friendship Home, but hopefully soon. 🫶🙏

Hi, everyone.

Again, I am sorry in the lapse in posts, everything changes so much and quite frankly, I sometimes do not know how/what to post because of it.

Currently, Kylie is doing so good!!! She is starting to get out more, little by little, and life is starting to feel a little closer to “normal” for her. I have attached a photo of her out to lunch. We are hoping that she can slowly transition back to The Friendship Home, as she misses her friends so much and we think it will do her a world of good.

Hello everyone. Many are messaging me asking about Kylie. She’s was admitted yesterday to the hospital again. 😩

As I indicated in my previous post, it really does change all the time. Almost daily. They are running tests, no definitive answers yet. I will update when I hear. As you can imagine, the McCue family is drained; mentally and physically. This poor girl. 😢

Hello, everyone. I am sorry that I have not been as consistent with the updates. It’s hard to update now because everything changes day to day. Literally.

Kylie has been in and out of the hospital for various reasons over the past few weeks. Most recently she was admitted for pneumonia. She was released two days ago and seems to be doing well back at home. I am hesitant to even say that because every time I do, she has a setback 😫 but let’s pray she stays the course.

She has endured so much, and continues to do so. It’s crazy to me how she survived something that many deemed almost impossible, only to have complication after complication. It’s heartbreaking.

But in true Kylie spirit, she is positive and smiles as much as she can. This has been very draining on Kylie, Kerry, and Jimmy, as you can imagine, and we all hope for some consistency with recuperation in a positive direction going forward.

Thank you again everyone for your patience and understanding. 🩷 -Tara

Hi everyone. I’m sorry it has been a while.

Unfortunately Kylie being at home was short lived. She was re-admitted a couple of weeks ago with some complications, and she is still in the hospital, as the doctors are trying to figure things out. She is having some lung complications, and it’s baffling.

I don’t have any new updates other than this, but wanted to post something because I know that everyone is wondering.

Kylie is home!! Kerry will be posting an update soon. They are just trying to get settled and adjusted. Please be patient.

All your prayers worked. Thank you, THANK YOU. ~ Tara

May 19th Update:

Kylie is probably getting discharged this week to go home and start her PT! They just told us kidney looks good, she is now taking in 70% of her calorie requirement, and heart looks good. They’re not draining the fluid in her right lung due to the risk. They’re just going to increase diuretics and watch it.

Her clots are being treated with injections and Coumadin.

They said she is in a good spot. 🙏🏻

May 12th update.

What a roll-coaster it has been. Lots to report.

Kylie has two pleural effusions. She wasnt showing any symptoms. So, thankfully they were caught, because it wasn’t something that they would normally look for post transplant, but it is something that would have potentially been fatal. They were able to drain one lung today, and they are doing the other one tomorrow.

They have also discovered that Kylie has a 4 inch ulcer in her throat. They are treating that.

As of now, they are able to get Kylie to drink one Ensure shake a day, and today she had a half of a piece of toast, I know that doesn’t sound like much, but it is a win!

Her kidneys are doing ok right now; lots of balancing with medication and fluids.

Kylie’s spirits are starting to improve, she is starting to participate more in her therapy to walk again, and if all goes well, we are hopeful that she will be able to do her extensive physical therapy at home instead of a rehab. Another win!

Kylie still has a long road ahead, but she is persevering, and she is a strong girl.

As you have seen over the past few weeks, everything changes day-to-day, but right now, we are taking these small victories as wins.

I will update again soon.

May 6, 2025 Update.

This one is very difficult for me to write. Kylie isn’t doing well. It’s not so much her kidneys now (although they are still concerning) - but more worrisome is Kylie’s mental state. She’s shutting down. She won’t eat, won’t drink, she can’t walk, she can’t stand, she won’t talk, except only to say she wants to go home.

She has been in the hospital bed for five months now and it has taken a significant toll on her body and mind. They also told Kerry today that its looking like she will not be going home upon release from the hospital (no idea when that will be), but she will be going to a rehab hospital for at least 6 weeks to do 3-4 hours of acute physical therapy A DAY!! Kylie DOES NOT know this. She will not be able to cope with that. Please DO NOT mention this to her.

To say we are worried is an understatement. The hospital said they’ve never seen anyone respond like this, but we also attribute it to her cognitive disabilities, I don’t think she fully understood what the transplant meant as far as the waiting and then the recovery. I think she thought she would just be able to get the transplant and go right home afterwards.

As far as the tremors, they have determined it’s not neurological, but a sensitivity to all the medication she is on, so there is some good news. They are trying not to give her a feeding tube, because that will set her back even more, but she cannot sustain the way she is. I think a decision will be made about that tomorrow.

Please, if you can, please try to continue to pray for Kylie, she is in need of so many prayers, as well as for Kerry and Jimmy and their family.

It’s taking a toll on everyone. 😢

❣️May 4, 2025 KYLIE UPDATE❣️

Lots going on with Kylie. She has had some setbacks with the kidneys and may need to restart dialysis. 😢 Kylie also is not eating well at all, so they may need to do a feeding tube, but we won’t know more until tomorrow about what’s happening as far as a feeding tube and dialysis.

She is complaining of being in pain also, and she is having massive tremors again which is scaring us. That concerned them enough to involve neurology.

Kylie is M I S E R A B L E so I am asking everyone who has been texting her to please stop for now. She’s in no condition to respond anyhow. :(

I’ll post again when I know more. -Tara

I wasn’t going to post about Kylie until next week, but I am getting a lot of messages so I thought I would post a quick update.

It definitely has been a roller coaster these past few weeks, but, I can say that Kylie is now exceeding the doctor’s expectations. Given a 10% chance of survival going in, I can report today that her heart is doing great and her kidneys are (finally) starting to work. She’s a living miracle! Hoping this continues. I’ll post again next week. 🩷🩷 - Tara

April 24, 2025 Update.

Kylie’s kidneys are still not functioning.

Her heart is doing great. They’re going to try and reduce the meds that are helping her heart pump to see if she can maintain her pressures on her own. Let’s hope she can.

She has a long way to go. She can barely hold her head up, but she’s fighting.
