In this episode of Lewy Body and Mindful Caregiving, we discusses the concept of 'the long goodbye' in relation to caring for loved ones with forms of dementia. While it is undoubtedly a difficult journey, it also provides an opportunity to preserve shared experiences, record beloved phrases or conversations, and learn unique nuances of the person being cared for.

By identifying traumas or patterns from past lives, individuals can work through these issues and move forward in their spiritual growth.

In last weeks episode of Breathe In, Breathe Out, we invite returning guest Kevin Pennell to discuss past life regression and its benefits. This week we invi...

Acknowledge Your Emotions: Recognize what you are feeling and why - be it grief, irritation, guilt or sadness. Understanding your emotions is the first step towards acceptance.

Practice Self-Care: Dedicate time to looking after your own needs too. This not only helps rejuvenate you but also brings clarity and fosters acceptance of the situation you're in.

Seek Outside Support: Whether it's a therapist or a support group of people with similar experiences, external support can be an invaluable resource in helping you process your feelings and reach acceptance.

Learn About the Illness: Understanding what your loved one is going through can make it easier to manage your expectations and accept the reality of the situation.

Give It Time: Acceptance often comes with time. Be patient with yourself. In the throes of caregiving, there may be many ups and downs, but with time, you will find yourself better equipped and gradually reaching a state of acceptance.

How to make the holidays more enjoyable:

1. **Define What the Holiday Means to You**: Everybody has a different view of what the holiday should be. Some may see it as a time to rest, while others may see it as an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. Decide what the holiday means to you and plan accordingly.

2. **Plan Ahead**: Planning ahead can help you get organized and ensure that you donโ€™t get overwhelmed with last-minute tasks or shopping. It can also help you set a budget to prevent overspending during the holiday season.

3. **Stay Active**: Even though itโ€™s a holiday, you should remain active. This doesnโ€™t mean you have to go to the gym every morning, but get outside, go for a walk, or engage in some other form of physical activity.

4. **Eat Mindfully**: Holidays are known for indulgence, but that doesn't mean overeating or binging on unhealthy foods. Focus on portion sizes, eating a balance of different types of foods and listening to your hunger signals.
