Predisposed to Wholesomeness
Classical Five-Element Acupuncture is an ancient nature based medicine that focuses on the idea that we are a reflection of nature and that nature is a reflection of us. When the elements go out of balance in the natural world we begin to see a greater number of natural disasters, we see pollution that gathers and causes an endless variety of diseases in our environment. It is the same in our bodies. As is found in Classical Chinese thought and practice the natural world and our bodies can be divided up into 5 Elements. These elements are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. This system of medicine helps to support the underlying elemental balance in a person and thus it helps support the body, mind and spirit to heal itself. In this way we focus on healing from the root cause, from the deepest aspects of ourselves out. These are areas in our life that we may be deficient in, areas where we struggle or have a generally more difficult time navigating. It’s often the case that we are not clearly aware of this imbalance within ourselves as it can be most difficult to see our own deeper obstacles. By using acupuncture we are reawakening areas of the body that may have been ignored or forgotten. Our bodies are a vast terrain of wisdom found in so many different ways, each point containing its own unique wisdom. We are reminding our bodies and minds of their great inheritance, wisdom, wholesomeness, joy and worthiness. Acupuncture can do this by gently removing the blocks that stop our energy from flowing in its native harmonious way. These blocks usually come from certain factors such as lifestyle, habit and imbalanced environmental factors. Often it is difficult for us to figure out conceptually how to change such factors so that we can heal ourselves from within. We jump from one thing to the next trying to figure out how to find health, how to find a general sense of wellbeing. Often we forget that it is even possible to experience such a state of simple completeness. This is a great shame of our time, we have traded speed, comfort and materialism for our own sense of basic goodness. It is possible to feel naturally good, whole and well and ultimately this is the primary aim of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture. The side effects of this medicine are often that the symptoms that initially brought us in begin to clear up as well.
