Misinformation in nutrition often hides behind borrowed science. Even within the Paleo community, well-known figures misstate the evidence or leave out the full picture.

We take our role seriously as the original source of this movement. Accuracy isn’t optional.

A few things this article covers:
• “Toxins” is not a diagnosis (it’s usually a sales pitch)
• Real science includes mechanisms, context, and citations
• Red flags: no sources, no citations, just “a study showed”
• Watch for claims based on rodent studies that aren’t relevant to humans
• Buzzwords like “inflammation” and “balance hormones” are often used without measurable definitions
• Referencing ancestral health isn’t enough—evidence needs context, not just inspiration

INGREDIENTS IN PLAIN SIGHT.
This DIY Mosquito Repellent Candle is one of our favorite summer table centerpieces—and you can see exactly what goes into it. No mystery ingredients, no synthetic fragrances.

✨ Eucalyptus stems
✨ Rosemary sprigs
✨ Filtered water
✨ Tea tree essential oil
✨ Peppermint essential oil
✨ Unscented floating tea light

Current research suggests that essential oils like tea tree and peppermint may help deter mosquitoes when used properly in outdoor settings. (We shared some of the latest studies in the full article - check it out at thepaleodiet.com!)

IMPORTANT: Always burn candles safely:
✅ Use in a well-ventilated outdoor area
✅ Never leave a burning candle unattended
✅ Do not exceed recommended essential oil amounts
✅ Ensure water level stays above herbs and oils

We met the team from Origin Provisions at a meat conference. What started as a casual conversation turned into something meaningful. The more we talked, the more we saw alignment in how we think about food, health, and trust.

Dr. Loren Cordain is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. His research emphasis over the past 20 years has focused upon the evolutionary and anthropological basis for diet, health and well being in modern humans. Dr. Cordain’s scientific publications have examined the nutritional characteristics of worldwide hunter-gatherer diets as well as the nutrient composition of wild plant and animal foods consumed by foraging humans. He is the world’s leading expert on Paleolithic diets and has lectured extensively on the Paleolithic nutrition worldwide. Dr. Cordain is the author of five popular bestselling books including The Paleo Diet, The Paleo Answer, The Paleo Diet Cookbook, and The Real Paleo Diet Cookbook summarizing his research findings.
