TAA In the News!

Thank you to everyone that took time out this week and either traveled to Austin or testified virtually to help advocate for the proposed Medicaid reimbursement rate for ambulance providers. We want to also thank the Texas Health & Human Services Commissioner leadership and lawmakers for their continued support of the ambulance industry and applaud the agency’s recommendation of this reimbursement rate.

This rate increase will help stabilize ambulance and critical services particularly in rural areas and help our members as they continue providing 911 services when Texans need it the most.

The Texas Ambulance Association, Board members, and providers testified before the Texas Health & Human Services Commission in favor of the proposed ambulance Medicaid rates. Ambulance providers are a critical part of Texas’ healthcare safety net. We respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, staffing shortages, fuel costs, rising equipment expenses, or ongoing workforce challenges. The new Texas Medicaid ambulance reimbursement would be a meaningful and immediate step toward stabilizing ambulance services across the state. This change will help preserve access to emergency medical care, particularly in rural and underserved communities, where providers are operating on extremely thin margins and, in some cases, facing the risk of service reductions or closure. We are grateful for the proposed increase and appreciate all of our members that demonstrated their support.
