HEALING can feel ‘messier’ — before it gets easier.

Past emotions or memories will come to the surface after years of being quiet or avoided.

When these wounds come forward,
it may seem like a step going backward…

But it’s NOT.

It may be a sign that your body is actually ready to release what it once held onto so tightly.

From what I’ve seen in my therapy office with brave clients day to day… is that healing begins the moment what was hidden feels SAFE enough to be SEEN.

I recently took this CliftonStrengths test by Gallup - have you done this before or ever heard of it?

If so, share your own results in the comments! 🙌🏻☺️

The results highlighted my top five in the order shown, and all of them were in only two categories: relationship building and strategic thinking. There are 4 categories (see last two pics), so that’s intriguing to me…

I placed this gold frame on my desk at Haven to remind me of my STRENGTHS and lean into those as I move in the direction of my dreams ;) Will I make mistakes along the way? Yep. Have I already? Oh yes 😆 it’s a process!

I love using Solution Focused Therapy theory by de Shazer & Berg, which models these key principles:

- Focus on SOLUTIONS, not problems
- Empower clients to take OWNERSHIP of their goals
- Highlight the client’s STRENGTHS and exceptions
- Believe in the client’s CAPACITY for change
- Use a COLLABORATIVE, non-judgmental approach

I call my style as a therapist - ‘empathetic coaching’ because I see all my clients as so brave and good. Deserving of seeing their own strengths and how these characteristics help them work through HARD things.

I don’t always get weighed down as a therapist, like many assume… if anything I see change (even if slow progression) on a daily and hourly basis. It’s motivating and makes me proud of those I get to be with/witness!

Welcome to 🌱 HAVEN THERAPY & WELLNESS 🌱

JAN 7, 2025 : A fulfilled… and yet to unfold… 20 year life dream of mine! To be the owner of a holistic mental health therapy practice primarily to support and help women *heal* in all aspects - MIND, BODY, SPIRIT ☀️

So much to share, but let’s just say it’s been on my heart since my 20’s when asked what my dream career/goals would be later in life. And now, it’s a reality!! 🤯

The passing of my parents have helped make this possible financially, but mostly I feel it’s a heaven sent GIFT from them at the end of a very emotionally challenging year. I dedicate it to my angel parents, helping me turn grief into something joyful/meaningful!

This main floor office space of THREE different rooms seemed to fall into my lap… just 5 min from my home. After a very clear and simple prompting to take a few steps in faith on my part to seek it out in November, I see how things have miraculously taken shape. 🙏🏻

It IS the perfect location/space for what I want to do, and have envisioned all this time. I was able to start my lease in December to get things moved in and leave my previous employment at a group practice nearby.

Doors opened Jan 7, and it’s been 3 weeks today!! Lots of learning and stretching, but can’t wait to see what’s in store for HAVEN this coming year in 2025 🙌🏻
