In the words of Cameran.... "Awe, we finally have friendship bracelets" 🀣

Did you know that having 2 vitals that are not in normal range is a sign for Sepsis...

Cameran is the go big or go home type and likes to keep me on my toes at all times!

Heart rate - 130 βœ…οΈ
BP- 180/140βœ…οΈ
Temp- 103βœ…οΈ
Rigorsβœ…οΈ

A brick wall hit Cameran out of no where last night around 730 and he won a ambulance ride to the ER where he was admitted for severe sepsis!

Everything is back within normal ranges and 🀞he will be discharged by Wednesday! We are just waiting on cultures to come back.

That is what we have been up to!

Please continue to share us along to keep building the community we have established! πŸ’š

This is what I deal with... Playing "Dead Leg" was all fun and games until Cameran reminded Gavin of his impaired sensation... truce was called for some Banana Pudding πŸ˜‚

The well is officially in and we are drawing H2O from the aqifer!

Now the only thing holding us up on the official addition is the lovely Health Department and Building & Zoning. πŸ˜’

Are you keeping up with the forever changing research of all the medications you are taking?!?

You should be!

Cameran was on ALL THREE of these all the way up to a week ago. We switched 2 medications out for 1 that is in a complete different medication family, and thankfully it seems to be doing the job!

A post back to back.... why not while I have a moment!

Wednesday was a bad... Wednesday was the appointment for Cameran's one month follow up of him getting his suprapubic catheter port!

Everything looked amazing, his port was changed about 3PM, and we headed to Ladysmith for meds before home.

We get home and no urine in sight. Cameran is a stickler sometimes with getting fluids in so I immediately thought he hadn't had enough intake to produce any and he swallowed nearly 18 oz of water.

By 6PM he started with signs of Autonomic Dyslexia, his blood pressure was rising and still no urine... I immediately resorted to straight cathing and tried for nearly a hour with no success.

By 7PM, his blood pressure was even higher and I KNEW he had to p*e and it was time to head to the ER! We loaded up, and started heading towards Memorial Regional in the monsoon of a storm!

Cameran was steadily checking his blood pressure, and it was slowly continuing to creep higher and higher. By the time I got to Rt 2, I made the decision I was going to hand him over to the rescue squad in Bowling Green.

We get to the fire department, and there was no rescue squad. They dispatched to Frog Level and they were waiting on me when I got there! I handed Cameran over to the rescue squad and went to the hospital.

After a CT scan, it was found that when the new tube was placed, the balloon of the catheter got stuck in the bottom of his bladder! This was also preventing a straight cath from entering his bladder!

The balloon was adjusted and he immediately relieved nearly an entire liter of fluid! The boy HAD TO P*E!

Following his blood pressure being extremely high (maxing at 181/124) for numerous hours, his regular is 90/60, he then immediately tanked and he felt like complete s**t until today.

I am thankful that come his appointment in August I will be trained to change out his ports here at home once a month! This would have been such an easy fix here at home if I had the supplies.

He is just about back to normal just in time for a full weekend! πŸ’š

Oof, what a week! On Tuesday, Cameran was one of a few invited back to Sheltering Arms and given the opportunity to use the Onward Trans Spinal Stimulation device. During the hour he was able to use this device, Cameran had better stability with his arms, was able to slightly move fingers on his right hand that he is unable to move, felt more stable with balance. and had increased movement in both feet. We are hopeful that this device will be coming to Sheltering Arms, and hopeful that by the end of the year may be a device that I will be able to fight insurance to cover for at home use!

The reality of someone with a Spinal cord injury, going full fledge into Autonomic Dyslexia!

Tonight was the 2nd night since being home in a year, thank goodness! It happens because the body is saying "hey, something is wrong", but the brain can not process what is wrong because of the injury within the spinal cord. So the body decides the freak out, shooting the BP to Mars, and sends Cameran into a POUNDING debilitating headache which is much worse that a standard migraine!

Something as simple as laying on a folded over sheet can cause this for some.

Generally, because this is right at having a stroke or heart attack, most people would call 911. However, dealing with someone who has a SCI is a bit different. My job first is to try to figure out what's going on, because once the problem is addressed everything returns to normal!

The 2nd reading was taken about 15 mins after the 1st, and of course numerous times between to see where his BP was standing.

I would not consider calling 911 unless for some reason we could not get his BP to move in a downward direction because they would want to treat him for hypertension and transport him to the nearest hospital.... and while the BP is super high, that is not what is going on.

Now hopefully we can get some sleep! πŸ™ƒ
