Dying for the Living

Dying for the Living We meet regularly in Bowling Green, Ohio to normalize a taboo subject that unites us all. However, this is not a grief support group.

We discuss various aspects of death and dying, and allow open conversations without shame or stigma.

These dynamic sisters created Mindful Endings in Bowling Green, Ohio. They host informal meetings to discuss all things end-of-life. We were honored to be a speaker yesterday. Thank you Carol and Margaret!

Just in time for spooky season, our next event is scheduled!

We are all going to die.

Fearing death is common in Western culture, but that fear can often leave us paralyzed. Whereas meeting and accepting our own mortality allows us to face the fears head on, feel them, and let them pass.

If we can accept the inevitability of death, and the knowledge that it could come at any time, the present moment becomes sweeter. We move through life knowing our time is limited and that nothing is promised. We love harder, walk away from things that make us miserable, and find appreciation in the small moments that make life precious.

Join Dying for the Living and Indigo Mystics Spiritual Wellness for a Meditation on Death, where we will gently explore the finite nature of our lives during a time when the veil is thinning. There will be time after the meditation to share and discuss the experience over tea and cookies. This meditation can be intense for some, so please consider if you are in a stable enough headspace to attend. Copious tissues will be provided.

This event follows the practice of a gift economy. Please pay what you can, but know that no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Pre-registration is required, please fill out the form here to reserve your spot! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZYgespKzF7SDNsUbaJYxthr2QoIhyzmtbVuTl0Dwjy6cknA/viewform?usp=preview

Hey y'all! I have two announcements!

The first, as you may have noticed, is that I've renamed both the overall page, and the specific gathering events we've been doing together!

The reason for this is that the name "Death Cafe" is trademarked, and they have very specific rules for their events; rules I don't want to follow! Such as not being able to have speakers, workshops, or specific topics like the Pride Cafe we did together in June. Because I'd like a little more flexibility, I've decided to just change the names! But we will still largely follow the Death Cafe structure most of the time.

I will also be able to post more of the non Death Cafe specific offerings/workshops, etc. that I'd like to do in the coming months, so stay tuned for those!

So! Let me re-introduce myself! My name is Taylor, I'm an INELDA-trained Death Doula, and this is Dying for the Living.

The second announcement is that our next Death & Coffee (previously known as Death Cafe) is scheduled! We will be meeting at the annex table by the back window in Grounds for Thought on Sunday, August 31st at 4 p.m.

This month there will be a workshop portion in addition to our standard open conversations! I hope to see you there!
