Plantar Fasciitis: real or imagined?
It’s come to mean any and all foot pain🦶.
Your feet have endured years worth of overuse, and downright abuse
The burning, the pain, need to stretch them, or rub them, can be unbearable.

👉 Standing on hard surfaces for long periods
👉 Uncomfortable or unsupportive shoes (Did someone say: steel toed boots 🥾?)
👉 Sitting for long periods
👉 Running 🏃, dancing🕺, or similar activities
Plantar fasciitis is when the ligaments in the bottom of your foot, the ones that create the arch, are overstretched and overtaxed. It’s the result of your foot resisting gravity. Holding you up 🧍‍♀️ or pushing you off the ground 🏃.

What to do with a pain in the…foot?
You tried all these
Foam inserts 👎
Ice 🥶 & OTC pain relievers 👎
Orthopedic shoe 👟 lifts 👎
Take smaller steps 👎
Choose supportive shoes, don’t walk barefoot 🦶👎
Avoid jogging and other high impact activities 👎
Calf and foot stretches 👎

If your pain is persistent, your doctor may recommend the tried and true:
⚬ Ice 🧊 and pain relievers
⚬ Splints
⚬ Orthotic inserts 👣
⚬ Injections 💉 in the heel (YIKES!)

Massage 👍
Massage gets blood flowing, and relieves pain. Long, deep, massage over your feet and legs will release the tension, and eliminate that burning sensation in the soles.

As a military veteran, I have understanding of the pain you’re going through. And as a massage therapist, I have training to combat it. And we won’t even talk about the holes in the bottom of your socks 🧦. 😉

Whether it’s your calf muscles, or something else; tight muscles make performing harder. They make workouts harder. Remember the PT you were imagining on Monday?
Tight muscles make EVERYTHING harder.
Ditch the harder.
Work smarter, NOT harder.
Get muscles to relax, and move, so they can perform.
I have massage appointments available.

Does your massage therapist ask you questions during the massage?
I don’t mean questions about your plans after the massage.
Does your massage therapist ask you about the muscles they are feeling under their hands? When they feel something different; a muscle with tension, or a tissue that rolls when touched; do they ask you?
My training in anatomy began years before I attended massage therapy school. To me, it isn’t just muscle, bone, and skin. But I will be asking you about the muscle, bone, and skin. When my hands feel something in your calf muscle that doesn’t feel quite right, be prepared for me to ask.
Because it matters to me. It could be the difference between a muscle that needs massage, and a muscle that needs healing.

Just so you know…
As a massage therapist, if you suffered a muscle strain on Monday, today is NOT the day to massage it. Wait, what? Yes. The massage therapist said, today is not your day to massage that leg. Let your muscles heal, before the rigors of massage. Any massage therapist, who cares about your well-being, would say the same. We will massage that leg, when the muscles are healed.
In the meantime, try an upper back massage.

When to see a doctor…
If you were running yesterday, and felt a lightning bolt shoot through your leg; should you be scheduling an appointment with your doctor today?
Let’s find out:
When you were running, did your “cramped” muscle immediately feel weak?
Was it painful when you tried to stretch it out?
Did you need help getting to your truck afterward?
Does your calf muscle look like it has a new dent in it?
This morning, was the muscle in pain, swollen, or do you have intense pain when moving your calf?

If you answered ‘Yes’ do any of these questions, it’s time to see your doctor.
The more you use that injured leg without treatment, the more you risk further injury, and longer recovery time. That doesn't bode well for you, does it?

Is it a strain?
Imagine this…you’re running the last 0.2 miles of your PT test, lengthening your stride for maximum distance, and, suddenly, a lightning bolt splinters from inside your right calf muscle. It’s so powerful it almost knocks you over, and you feel like you’re limping toward the finish line.
You push through it until the end, and finally have the chance to “walk it out”.
For a muscle cramp, walking it out is fine.
But what if it’s not?
Walking out a muscle strain can injure it more. Tore muscles fibers can tear further, and, ultimately, add time to your recovery.

Is pain holding you hostage?
❌ Persistent aches
❌ Stress-induced tight muscles
❌ Post-workout soreness
If pain is keeping you from doing the things you love or affecting your ability to perform your best at work, you need more than a “standard” massage.
You need a therapist who specializes in pinpointing the cause of your pain and creating effective treatments so you can feel better longer.
🤯 That’s me

A couple at home treatment options to help you out in-between massage sessions, or if you’ve been to a session to was a little too rough.

💦 Hydration!! Yes, I know I sound like a broken record. But for real, as the temps get hotter, you sweat, dehydration comes before you know it. If you're thirsty, you're already depleted. (No kidding, tell me something I don't know. 🙄) Staying hydrated helps your joints stay lubricated as well as literally every function in your body be more efficient. So, stay diligent with your water intake!

💦 🧂 Epsom Salt Soaks: 1 cup of salt into a hot bath and soak for a minimum of 20 minutes. Epsom Salt Soaks have been said to help decrease inflammation and reduce the discomfort that comes with arthritis and swelling of the joints. The magnesium can help relieve headaches and migraines and the sulfur can help pull out toxins and heavy metals.

Try it.
Don't be afraid to tell us if they work.
