Bleeding gums aren’t normal.

I see this all the time people ignore it until it turns into something bigger.

Bleeding is one of the earliest signs your gums are inflamed, and if it’s left untreated, it can lead to gum disease, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss.

Caught early, it’s manageable.

What matters most is paying attention now not later.

Here are 3 signs I tell patients not to ignore:

1 Bleeding when brushing or flossing
Even a small amount is a sign of inflammation, not brushing too hard

2 Swollen, red, or tender gums
Healthy gums should be firm and light pink not puffy or sensitive

3 Persistent bad breath
Bacteria under the gums can cause odor that brushing alone won’t fix
