“The yoga pose is not the goal. Becoming flexible is not the goal. Standing on your hands is not the goal.
The goal is to create space where you were once stuck. To unveil the layers of protection you’ve built around your heart. To appreciate your body and become aware of the mind and the noise it creates. To make peace with who you are. The goal is to love, well… You.”

It’s never just about the Asana, or the flexibility, or how it looks from the outside.

The real practice is quieter than that.

It’s creating space where you once felt stuck.

It’s gently unraveling the layers you built to protect your heart.

It’s learning to listen to your body instead of pushing past it.

It’s noticing the mind… and softening the noise.

It’s making peace with who you are—right here, as you are.

And maybe, over time…becomes something even deeper… ❤️❤️❤️

✨ The Science Behind EFT Tapping (Yes, There’s Research!)

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also known as “tapping,” might look simple… but what’s happening under the surface is powerful.

When you tap on specific acupressure points while bringing up a stressful thought, you’re doing two things at once:

1️⃣ Activating the body (by naming the stressor)
2️⃣ Sending calming signals through the nervous system (through rhythmic tapping)

Research shows tapping can:
🧠 Decrease activity in the amygdala (your brain’s alarm center)
📉 Lower cortisol levels (your primary stress hormone)
🫶 Increase feelings of safety and regulation
🔁 Help rewire emotional responses to triggering memories

Brain imaging studies have found that stimulating acupoints while focusing on distress reduces the stress response faster than talk therapy alone.

Why?
Because EFT works with the body — not just the story.
It allows the nervous system to process what felt overwhelming… without re-traumatizing you in the process.

This is bottom-up healing.
This is regulation.
This is why tapping works. 💛

If you’ve experienced EFT, tell me — what did you notice in your body?

What if the journey isn’t about fading…
but about becoming light?

There is something profoundly hopeful about that.

The shedding.
The identities that fall away.
The roles we outgrow.

Maybe they are more than losses to grieve.

Maybe they are the friction that reveals our radiance.

What if this season of your life isn’t about holding it all together —
but about letting what is false burn off
so what is true can shine?

We are not here to harden.
We are here to become light. ✨💫✨

There’s something sacred about watching a room full of people soften back into themselves.

This week’s somatic workshop was a gentle, powerful remembering — that the body is not something to fix… it is something to listen to.

Beneath the noise, beneath the striving, beneath the stories — there is a steady pulse of wisdom that has been with us all along.

We breathed.
We slowed down.
We felt what was ready to be felt.

And in that slowing, something shifted.

Coming home to the body is not dramatic. It’s subtle. It’s honest. It’s the moment you realize your nervous system has been protecting you — and you can finally thank it instead of fighting it.

When we make space for sensation, we make space for truth. And when truth is welcomed, love rises naturally.

Not the performative kind.
Not the forced positivity.
But the embodied kind.

The kind that begins within — as self-trust, self-compassion, self-presence — and then radiates outward. Into relationships. Into families. Into communities. Into the way we walk through the world.
Transformation doesn’t always look like becoming someone new.

Sometimes it looks like remembering who you were before you forgot.

So grateful to everyone who showed up with curiosity, courage and a willingness to hold space- for themselves and others.

The body knows the way home.

And when we listen, love elevates — within us and all around us. 🫶

Somatic healing starts with a recognition that our bodies are not just brain taxis. 🧠🚕

They are wise storytellers and alchemists. ✨

Your body remembers what words couldn’t hold. It carries the imprints of safety, survival, joy, and pain—not to punish you, but to guide you back home to yourself.

When we slow down and listen, the body doesn’t just reveal what hurt… it shows us how healing wants to happen.

Through sensation.
Through breath.
Through presence.

Somatic healing isn’t about fixing the body—it’s about trusting its intelligence and allowing transformation to emerge from within.

Your body knows. ✨

This week, I’m feeling deeply grateful as our first six-week collective healing group at the Sanctuary () comes to a close. 🙏🏻

Experiences like this remind me how powerful it is when people gather with intention—to slow down, to listen inward, and to be witnessed without needing to explain or perform.

Healing doesn’t always happen through words or effort. Often, it unfolds through presence, safety, and being held in community.

Over the past six weeks, I’ve been reminded that healing is not a solo journey. When we create environments rooted in care and nervous-system safety, something softens. People reconnect with themselves. And subtle, meaningful shifts begin to take place.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to hold this kind of space, for the trust it invites, and for the reminder that collective healing matters—especially in a world that asks us to move too fast. ❤️

May we all find spaces where we can pause, breathe, and remember that we’re not meant to do this alone. ✨

Trauma isn’t stored in the story.
It’s stored in the nervous system.

This is why insight alone doesn’t always bring relief.

You can understand why something happened, name every detail, and still feel tension, shutdown, or hypervigilance in your body.

Because healing doesn’t happen through force or analysis.

It happens when the body feels safe enough to soften, settle, and release what it’s been holding—sometimes for years.

We don’t push the nervous system to “let go.”

We don’t override protective responses that once kept us alive.

Instead, we listen.

Through breath, sensation, rhythm, and attuned presence, we create the conditions for safety.

And when safety is present, the body knows exactly what to do.

Healing isn’t about fixing yourself.

It’s about reminding your nervous system that the danger has passed.

Your body isn’t broken.

It’s been protecting you. ❤️❤️❤️

Fight. Flight. Freeze.

These are not overreactions.

They are intelligent survival responses.

Your nervous system didn’t choose them randomly.
It learned them through experience—
to protect you, to help you endure, to keep you alive.

Healing isn’t about getting rid of these responses
or shaming yourself for still having them.

It’s about helping your body recognize when the danger has passed + when it’s safe to soften, rest, and reconnect. ❤️

Safety isn’t a thought.

It’s a felt experience in the body.

And when safety is present, even briefly,
your system begins to reorganize on its own—
breath deepens, muscles release, emotions move, boundaries clarify.

Your responses make sense.

They always have.

And your body is not broken—
it’s wise, adaptive, and capable of learning safety again, gently and in its own time.

I recently had the honor of sharing my story on a podcast—how my own lived experiences shaped my path into somatic healing and work at The Sanctuary.

We talked about the experiences that have shaped me, the ways the body holds wisdom long before the mind has language, and why healing isn’t about fixing ourselves—but about creating enough safety for the system to reorganize naturally.

The Sanctuary was born from this belief: that when we slow down, listen to the body, and honor our nervous systems, something profound becomes possible—restoration, resilience, and reconnection.

If you’re curious about my story, somatic healing, nervous system regulation, or what it means to build spaces rooted in safety and compassion, I’d love for you to listen! 🫶 - Dr. Rachael

Safety isn’t just comfort.

It’s biology.

When your nervous system feels safe, it can move out of survival mode.

It can digest properly, repair tissues, rest deeply, and engage with life fully.

When safety is present, growth isn’t forced—it naturally unfolds.

This is why supporting your nervous system matters.

Not through pushing or forcing, but through creating gentle, consistent spaces of safety—for yourself and your body.

Your body already wants to thrive. It just needs to feel safe enough to do so. ❤️🫶❤️
