The steps matter.
Being part of a recovery collective matters.

Our Executive Director, Corey Gamberg, shares how step work - and being surrounded by people living it - became essential to his recovery. Not just the work itself, but the culture of showing up, accountability, and belonging.

Recovery isn’t meant to be done alone. That community he’s talking about? We’ve got it covered.

If you or someone you love is struggling, reach out. We’re here 24/7.

Friday Feedback 🤍

Today, we’re looking back on the five-star experiences our community has shared with us over time. These reflections remind us why showing up with care, consistency, and compassion matters.

Heading into the weekend with a lot of gratitude and appreciation for the work we get to do and the trust placed in us.

Relapse rarely starts with a substance.

It often starts quietly - with overwhelm, disconnection, unregulated stress, or unmet emotional needs.
By the time a substance shows up, the nervous system has usually been in survival mode for a while.

That’s why sustainable recovery isn’t just about saying no to drugs or alcohol.

It’s about learning how to notice early warning signs, regulate emotions, and respond before coping turns into relapse.

Recovery is prevention - at the nervous system level.

Emotional regulation doesn’t mean being calm all the time.
It doesn’t mean forcing positivity or pretending everything is fine.

It means being able to notice what’s happening inside before a reaction takes over.

That pause between a trigger and a response is where choice begins - and where recovery actually lives.

For many people, that pause was never fully developed. Trauma, chronic stress, and substance use can overwhelm the nervous system, making emotions feel intense, unpredictable, or completely shut down. That’s not a personal failure - it’s a nervous system stuck in survival mode.

At Rockland, we focus on restoring regulation first. Through trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, and skills-based clinical work, clients learn how to slow reactions, stay present, and build emotional safety from the inside out.

As regulation improves, emotional honesty becomes safer. Reactions soften. Relationships stabilize. And 12-step work can finally go deeper - without white-knuckling.

Sustainable recovery isn’t built on willpower alone.
It’s built by teaching the nervous system how to respond - instead of react.

👏 Taylor — One Year in Recovery

One year is built on daily choices, quiet strength, and the courage to keep going — even when it isn’t easy. This milestone reflects real growth, resilience, and a commitment to a healthier, more grounded life.

We’re proud to celebrate Taylor and honor the work it takes to reach this moment. Recovery is not about perfection — it’s about progress, and this is a powerful reminder of what’s possible.

Recovery doesn’t move straight from chaos to calm.

At Rockland, we understand that early recovery often begins in dysregulation - emotionally, physically, and neurologically. This is why sobriety alone isn’t enough.

Our approach integrates:
• Evidence-based clinical care (including trauma-informed therapy and EMDR)
• Emotional regulation skill-building
• Structured levels of care
• 12-Step foundations that support honesty, accountability, and connection (and a built-in forever alumni community second to none)

Stability isn’t demanded - it’s built through structure, safety, and skills. Motivation follows regulation. Capacity follows consistency.

This is recovery designed to last - not just abstain. 🤍 💪

If you or someone you love is suffering, reach out - we’re here 24/7.

Hot off the press! We’re proud to see the recent opening of our Bedford location featured in Business Insider - a meaningful acknowledgment of the care, intention, and heart that went into building Rockland Recovery Behavioral Health North.

As we shared when we opened, healing starts with feeling seen. This space was created to make treatment accessible, comfortable, and truly person-centered - so individuals and families feel supported from the very first step and long after treatment ends.

Being recognized reinforces what matters most to us: showing up with compassion, evidence-based care, and a commitment to meeting people where they are.
