Dementia is caused by disorders and injuries that affect the brain. According to the World Health Organization, Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form, accounting for 60–70% of dementia cases in older adults.
About 30–50% of people with AD experience agitation, which may include restlessness, irritability, pacing, angry outbursts, or aggression. Symptoms vary from person to person.
