Participants originally received guided psilocybin therapy in clinical trials and reported lasting improvements in mood, emotional resilience, and overall quality of life. Researchers say the findings suggest psilocybin could provide a powerful alternative to conventional antidepressants, which often require daily use and can have side effects. This unexpected result comes from a 2025 study that tested psilocybin’s effects on skin and lung cells. This finding adds to a growing body of evidence that psilocybin and related compounds could have anti-aging and regenerative properties, far beyond their current reputation as mental health therapies.
