This Valentine’s Day, let self-love mean listening to your body.

It looks like honoring your energy, your cycles, your recovery, and your need for rest. It looks like care that supports your nervous system, hormones, and pelvic health.

Whether that is gentle movement, slow breathing, or simply pausing, it all counts. Today, offer your body a little extra kindness.

What does self-care look like for you.

For me, it is solving NY Times puzzles and listening to instrumental music that helps my nervous system slow down. I have also been exploring 528 Hz frequency for relaxation, often called the love frequency.

Self-care does not need to be elaborate. It needs to help your body exhale. I would love to hear what works for you.

Heart health matters for women, especially during perimenopause and menopause.
Hormonal shifts influence circulation, blood vessels, stress response, sleep, and movement patterns. Symptoms in women often look different and are sometimes overlooked.

The encouraging part is heart health responds well to steady, supportive habits. Movement, rest, stress regulation, and nourishment work together.

Supporting your heart supports your whole body. Awareness is a strong first step.

This Black History Month, I want to take a moment to acknowledge an important reality in women’s health.

As a pelvic health provider, I see how deeply pregnancy, postpartum recovery, menstrual health, and access to care impact overall well-being. Research continues to show that Black women are more likely to experience pregnancy complications, higher maternal health risks, painful cycles, and delayed or dismissed care.

Awareness matters because it helps us provide more compassionate, informed, and individualized support. Pelvic health, nervous system care, and education should be accessible and respectful for every woman.

This month — and always — I remain committed to creating a space where women feel heard, supported, and empowered in their health journey. 🤍

In India, this time is honored as Makar Sankranti. A celebration rooted in warmth, nourishment, and connection.

It is marked by simple rituals:
• Flying kites – lifting our gaze upward
• Sharing sesame and jaggery sweets, warming foods for winter – Sesame is grounding. Jaggery is warming and supportive.
• Gathering – reminding the nervous system that connection matters

Together they reflect what the body often needs now. Warmth, routine, reassurance. This is not a season for rushing. It’s a season for slow expansion, steady habits, and trusting that the light is returning — little by little.

Before the year moves too far along, check your benefits.

HSA
• Funds never expire
• Use anytime
• Helpful for ongoing pelvic floor or orthopedic care
FSA
• Use it or lose it
• Often must be used by December 31
• Some plans allow use through March 15

Both typically cover physical therapy and pelvic floor therapy. Yoga-based or wellness services may require a Letter of Medical Necessity. Not sure which account you have? Check with your HR or benefits provider. Rules vary by plan.

If January came and you have not named a goal yet, that is okay. You do not need a big resolution or a perfect plan. Some of the strongest goals are quiet ones.

• A goal can be gentle.
• It can change.
• It can begin today.

And if you are not ready to name one yet, maybe your goal is simply to notice, how you feel, what your body needs, and where you hold tension. That is still progress.
