The Upper Cumberland Family History and Genealogy Festival, to be held in historic Granville, Tennessee, on Saturday July 25 celebrates and preserves the rich heritage of the Upper Cumberland region by keeping the stories of our ancestors alive.
As in past years, the festival will highlight genealogical and historical societies, county archives, lineage societies, libraries, museums, and individual researchers from across the region who are passionate about sharing their work.
In addition to the Event Center and newly established Artisan Center hosting our exhibitors we have two special exhibits of interest to visitors.
• The Granville Museum will feature the traveling exhibit Home Runs and Home Teams: A History of the National Pastime in Tennessee, while continuing to serve as home to our genealogy library and family photo gallery.
• In celebration of America 250, our newly acquired Clover Street home will become Independence Hall, featuring exhibits on the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary War timelines, historical flags, music, and more.
Activities throughout town will round out the day, drawing researchers, families, and heritage enthusiasts from across the Upper Cumberland and beyond.
More information on the event can be found on our website: https://www.granvilletn.com/family-history-festival They are welcoming individuals that would like to host a Family Name table to share their own research too. They can reach out at granvilletnoffice@gmail.com for more info.

🍀 What a wonderful day at the County Sumner Irish Festival! 🍀
Representatives from the Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society (MTGS) were excited to host a booth at the festival today. We had a fantastic time meeting so many interesting people and hearing about their Irish—and Scottish—ancestry stories. Family history conversations were happening all day!
The festival featured a variety of vendors selling Irish goods and sharing cultural heritage. We especially enjoyed connecting with groups dedicated to preserving history and traditions, including the Highland Rim Scottish Society (www.hrsstn.org) and the Ancient Order of Hibernians (www.aoh.org).
One of the highlights of the day was meeting Chris Lauderdale , who attended dressed as his 6th great-grandfather, James Lauderdale, Jr., a Continental Soldier in the Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War. What a great way to bring history—and genealogy—to life!
Representing MTGS at the booth today were Bonnie Winn , Shannon Yeatman , and Brenda Cowan Francis . Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share their family stories with us. We loved meeting you!
