💜 The Cosmic Soul Revival: A Story of Hope, Survival, and Giving Back
We are incredibly proud to introduce Cosmic Soul Revival, a powerful collaboration with Mason's Brewing Co. that is More Than Just a Beer.

This unique brew symbolizes a 17-year journey of survival, resilience, and hope. It represents the personal battle following my Stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis 17 years ago. The name, "Cosmic Soul Revival," encapsulates the entire journey of fighting, healing, and finding a renewed purpose in life. Thank you, Anthony, Matt, and Rhyne from Mason's, for helping bring this deeply personal vision to life!

The most crucial part of this project is its mission: a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Cosmic Soul Revival go directly to the Purple Iris Foundation.

The Purple Iris Foundation is committed to making the cancer journey easier for patients by providing essential support beyond medical care. Your purchase helps fund their vital work, including:
• Resource Navigation: Helping patients and families navigate the complex challenges of cancer treatment.
• Financial Assistance: Providing direct support by paying creditors and distributing crucial items like gas cards and grocery cards to ease the day-to-day financial strain of fighting cancer.

Every can purchased helps fund a patient's next meal or their trip to treatment.
Join us in celebrating this journey of "revival" and supporting those currently on their cancer journey.

Grab a can, share the story, and contribute to this meaningful cause.

Today we are talking about the Pancreas:
Where it's located and what it does..

📍 Pancreas Location
The pancreas is located deep within the abdomen, situated transversely across the body.
It lies behind the stomach and extends from the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine) on the right to the spleen on the left.
It's a long, tapered organ, often described as having a shape similar to a flat pear or a tadpole, with a wide head nestled in the curve of the duodenum, a body in the middle, and a narrow tail near the spleen.
Because of its deep location behind other organs, it can be difficult to physically examine.
💪 Pancreas Functions
The pancreas has two major, distinct functions:
1. Exocrine Function (Digestion)
The majority of the pancreas (the exocrine part) produces and secretes pancreatic juices into the small intestine (duodenum) via a duct. These juices contain powerful digestive enzymes that break down the food we eat:
Amylase breaks down carbohydrates (starches).
Lipase breaks down fats.
Protease (like trypsin) breaks down proteins.
The exocrine pancreas also produces sodium bicarbonate to neutralize the strong acid coming from the stomach, creating a safe environment for the enzymes to work in the small intestine.
2. Endocrine Function (Hormone Regulation)
Small clusters of cells called the Islets of Langerhans are the endocrine part of the pancreas, producing and secreting hormones directly into the bloodstream to regulate blood sugar:
Insulin is released when blood sugar levels are high (like after a meal). It helps transport sugar (glucose) from the blood into cells to be used for energy or stored.
Glucagon is released when blood sugar levels are low. It signals the liver to release stored glucose into the bloodstream, raising blood sugar levels

The Intraarterial Therapy kicked my A$$. my bloodwirk plummeted after my 4th Intraarterial. For the next few months I was needing blood and platelet transfusions to continue my FUDR with Leucovorin.
Side effects from Intraarterial were Significant... no tast no energy..I hurt, I had chronic bloody noses * low platelets
I was nauseas all the time. I trusted the process and had to be brave ...even though I was scared to death.

💜NOVEMBER IS PANCREATIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 💜

This is the 1st video that I did as a film crew followed me around for my "Chris In Real Time" during my appointments and chemo.
It was to help tell my story and inspire hope for others facing a Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis.

It was a commercial with Peggy Kessler, then a 5 year survivor of Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer that inspired hope for me.
I will be posting one of these videos each day as we get towards the end of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

I feel that I am pretty intense. It seemed to find me during my 3 1/2 year active battle with Pancreatic cancer.
Now I use that intensity to fuel my search for answers in why I am feeling so poorly.
I don't know how the Doctors will feel about that! 🤔😁 lol
