As we close out Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, this week's podcast is with Paralympic Gold Medalist Kate Brim. In 2017, Kate sustained a spinal cord injury during a routine surgery for a herniated disc. Through Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, a Move United member organization in Grand Rapids, she was introduced to adaptive sports and fell in love with handcycling for the freedom and peace it brings. Today, Kate is an elite athlete, earning one gold and one bronze medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games. Hear her story on this week’s podcast: moveunitedsport.org/podcast

Pickleball started taking over America during the pandemic, and this pint-sized paddle sport is attracting a growing number of wheelchair users. Quad Cheryl Angelelli tries it out and finds that the smaller court, light paddles and ease of getting the ball over the net make Pickleball a particularly fun and accessible sport for wheelchair users.

The 1st Annual Hope Open is coming!

Join us on June 28th at MVP Athletic Club, Rockford for a Pickleball Fundraiser.

We are not just playing for points—we are rallying for families navigating life with disabilities.

Isolation is silently suffocating families who have kids with disabilities. Certain Hope Community hosts free, accessible events so that families can find connection, hope, and encouragement. Your support helps transform isolation into belonging—and hard days into moments of hope.
