It is with sadness that we share the passing of BHS teacher, Mr. Karl Ehnis on July 18th. Mr. Ehnis taught math, geography and world history. He was 88.
Obituary for Karl Edward Ehnis
Karl Edward Ehnis born June 30, 1937, in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Thurlow and Loretta Ehnis, passed away on July 18, 2025.
Karl resided in Whitmore Lake. He married the love of his life, Nancy Ann Leland, on July 12, 1958 at the St. Joseph Village Church of Dexter, Michigan. Karl earned his bachelor and master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, and taught middle and high school education before retiring from Brighton Public Schools.
Karl was also a 4-H Leader and served on the Washtenaw Farm Council. He enjoyed collecting toy trucks and playing Pinochle euchre.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Thurlow and Loretta; and sisters, Beverly Bernard and Barbara Haines.
Karl is survived by his children, Karl Jr. (June) Ehnis, Paul (Barbara) Ehnis, and Jan (Timothy) Sparks; grandchildren, Rachel, Chad (Mary) Ehnis, Kate (Elton) See, Amanda Ehnis, Emily Sparks, Bradley (Alyssa) Sparks, and Jonathan Sparks; great grandchildren, Emma and Theo See; and siblings, Neil (Lois) Ehnis and Jo (Bruce) Weeks.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Nie Funeral Home- 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI from 4-7pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Country Catholic Church, 6805 Mast Rd, Dexter, MI at 11:30am with visitation before at 10am.
