Technology is great...until it isn't.
We are living in a time where there is an app for everything and ai has made our lives so much easier. In fact, I chatGPT'ed just how many yoga apps there are on the market right now.
250,000 with over half of those being dedicated to yoga and meditation.
Please hear my heart when I say this: Just because it is more accessible and easier to take a class from the comfort of your own home DOES NOT mean that it is better.
The only thing that we have as a studio that apps or ai cannot compete with is the art of a community. These apps cannot give you a hug when you are sad and having a terrible day at home or work. They cannot rejoice and hug you when you receive the promotion at your job or your baby is born. They cannot link arms with you when you fall down.
But we can. And your community can. We are humans that thrive on social connection and our brains need that in order to have a healthy mental and emotional state. Bonus-it is normally a small business that you are supporting and not a corporation.
May is Mental Health Awareness month and if you are struggling you are not alone.
Yoga is better in an actual community of human beings where you can connect with one another on an emotional basis.
And believe me, our instructors do that and they do it well! But so does our little community of yogis.
If you haven't taken the jump and tried to come into a studio to practice yoga; really what are you waiting for?
