Fats are an important part of a balanced diet, but not all fats are the same. Unsaturated fats are the healthy type of fat and are found in foods such as olive oil, avocados, nuts and seeds. Eating foods rich in unsaturated fats can reduce inflammation, lower bad cholesterol, aid in absorbing key nutrients and keep you feeling fuller for longer. The less healthy type of fat is called saturated fat, which is found in animal products. Saturated fat can increase cholesterol levels and increase the risk of heart disease.

It’s important to make choices that include more unsaturated fat and less saturated fat to keep our bodies healthy. Use these simple tips to start adding more healthy fats into your diet!
